Role Overview The Airline Operations Technology department is accountable for the delivery of resilient, scalable, and operationally supportable technology services that underpin safe and on-time airline operations. This role sits within the Connected Crew & Optimised Flying Mission, specifically within the Flight & Fuel Optimisation Product Group — focused on giving pilots real-time insight to drive fuel efficiency and consistent adoption of optimisation initiatives.
Pilots currently operate with fragmented data, limited end-to-end visibility, and inconsistent adoption of efficiency initiatives, resulting in unnecessary fuel burn, higher costs, and missed opportunities to scale proven savings. Note on scope: flight planning and dispatch systems are owned and operated by the Platform team, not by this product group. This role focuses on the fuel and performance optimisation layer — consuming flight and fuel data (including from Platform-owned flight planning systems where relevant) to drive insight, adoption, and measurable efficiency and emissions improvements, rather than owning flight planning/dispatch capability itself.
This spans fuel and performance analytics tooling, in-flight and post-flight data capture, sustainability/emissions reporting, and the integration capability needed to turn flight data into consistent, actionable insight for crew. These capabilities underpin: Fuel and flight-performance analytics and reporting capability In-flight and post-flight data capture, integration, and interoperability with adjacent systems (including Platform-owned flight planning data, consumed rather than owned) Operational observability, telemetry, monitoring, and alerting across fuel and performance optimisation tooling Third-party system orchestration across fuel analytics, performance monitoring, and sustainability/emissions reporting suppliers Operational resilience and scalable support models across the fuel optimisation estate Over the next 2–3 years, this domain will evolve significantly, with a focus on: End-to-end flight lifecycle data that improves accuracy, resilience, and crew confidence Measurable reduction in fuel cost and emissions through consistent adoption of optimisation initiatives Enhanced observability and proactive operational support capability (AIOps) Improved interoperability between fuel/performance tooling and Platform-owned flight planning and enterprise systems Rationalisation of fragmented fuel and performance technology and supplier landscapes Scalable deployment and operational support models across the fleet and network Job Purpose The Technical Specialist – Flight & Fuel Optimisation contributes to the seamless delivery, operational supportability, and technical evolution of fuel and flight-performance technology across a highly distributed and third-party -integrated environment.
The role is responsible for designing, implementing, configuring, and evolving fuel and performance analytics capability that gives pilots real-time, end-to-end insight, and that drives consistent adoption of proven fuel-efficiency initiatives. This role works closely with Product Managers, Domain Architecture, Infrastructure & Operations (I&O), Regional Delivery Managers, Security, suppliers, the Platform team (for flight planning/dispatch data), and flight operations stakeholders to ensure fuel and performance technology capability remains reliable, observable, supportable, and aligned to enterprise and operational standards.
A critical accountability of the role is the operational integration and supportability of third-party fuel analytics, performance monitoring, and sustainability reporting systems within easyJet's monitoring, observability, and operational support landscape — including well-defined integration with Platform-owned flight planning data — ensuring operational issues can be identified, diagnosed, and resolved effectively across a complex multi-supplier environment.
The Technical Specialist drives the standardisation and scalability of fuel optimisation technology capability through consistent operational tooling, observability patterns, support models, and integration implementations across the fleet and network. The role balances short-term operational delivery and support needs with long-term maintainability, resilience, and operational efficiency, ensuring operational technology capability supports measurable improvements in: Operational resilience Fuel efficiency and emissions reduction Consistent adoption of optimisation initiatives Service reliability and supportability Estate standardisation and scalability across fuel and performance tooling The Technical Specialist collaborates actively within agile delivery frameworks (e.g.
Scrum) and supports the delivery of operational technology capability within live operational environments.
