Role Overview The Airline Operations Technology department is accountable for the delivery of resilient, scalable, and operationally supportable technology services that underpin safe and on-time airline operations. This role sits within the Connected Crew & Optimised Flying Mission, spanning two closely related product groups: Safety Systems and Crew Training. The business relies on rapid, confident safety decisions across normal operations, disruption, and crisis — yet the information required to make those decisions remains fragmented across systems, with critical safety insight too often assembled reactively.
As operational pace and complexity increase, the business is outgrowing the safety intelligence capability currently available to anticipate risk, support decision-making, and maintain control. At the same time, crew training is fragmented across systems that don't talk to each other and relies heavily on manual processes, which limits data-driven insight from safety systems and increases administrative burden. Because training and safety data are closely linked — evidence-based training depends on the same operational and safety data that feeds risk intelligence — this role sits across both product groups to ensure the two capabilities are designed and integrated coherently.
This spans safety intelligence and reporting platforms, safety management system (SMS) integrations, evidence-based training systems, learning management platforms, and the underlying data integration between safety and training capability. These capabilities underpin: Safety intelligence, reporting, and risk-management system integration and interoperability Evidence-based training and learning management system (LMS) capability Data integration between safety systems and training platforms to support evidence-based training Operational observability, telemetry, monitoring, and alerting across safety and training systems Third-party system orchestration across safety, reporting, and training/LMS suppliers Operational resilience and scalable support models across the safety and training estate Over the next 2–3 years, this domain will evolve significantly, with a focus on: A real-time, integrated safety intelligence capability that proactively identifies risk and supports fast, consistent decisions A unified, data-driven training experience with minimal manual effort Improved interoperability between safety and training systems, and the wider operational and enterprise landscape Rationalisation of fragmented safety and training technology and supplier landscapes Enhanced observability and proactive operational support capability (AIOps) Scalable deployment and operational support models across the safety and training estate Job Purpose The Technical Specialist – Safety Systems & Crew Training contributes to the seamless delivery, operational supportability, and technical evolution of safety intelligence and crew training technology across a highly distributed and third-party -integrated environment.
The role is responsible for designing, implementing, configuring, and evolving operational technology capability that enables proactive safety risk identification and confident decision-making, alongside a unified, evidence-based training experience for crew. This role works closely with Product Managers, Domain Architecture, Infrastructure & Operations (I&O), Regional Delivery Managers, Security, suppliers, and safety and training stakeholders to ensure safety and training technology capability remains reliable, observable, supportable, and aligned to enterprise and operational standards.
A critical accountability of the role is the operational integration and supportability of third-party safety management, reporting, and training/LMS systems within easyJet's monitoring, observability, and operational support landscape, ensuring operational issues can be identified, diagnosed, and resolved effectively across a complex multi-supplier environment. The Technical Specialist drives the standardisation and scalability of safety and training technology capability through consistent operational tooling, observability patterns, support models, and integration implementations — including the data links between safety insight and training content that enable genuinely evidence-based training.
The role balances short-term operational delivery and support needs with long-term maintainability, resilience, and operational efficiency, ensuring operational technology capability supports measurable improvements in: Operational resilience Safety risk visibility and decision-making speed Training quality, consistency, and reduced administrative burden Service reliability and supportability Estate standardisation and scalability across safety and training systems The Technical Specialist collaborates actively within agile delivery frameworks (e.g.
Scrum) and supports the delivery of operational technology capability within live operational environments.
