This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Treasury Credit Risk sub-team within Nationwide’s Capital and Credit Risk Reporting team in the Treasury sub-department within Finance. You’ll combine specialist expertise with team leadership to deliver high-quality credit risk reporting, forecasting, planning and stress testing.
The Capital and Credit Risk Reporting team produces capital and Treasury credit risk reporting for internal and regulatory purposes. Its focus is on complete, accurate and timely information, helping the Board and relevant committees understand Nationwide’s financial strength and risks, now and in the future.
You’ll have the opportunity to shape how the sub-team works, develop colleagues and strengthen reporting processes, while building your own technical expertise and leadership capability.
As Senior Consultant Treasury, you’ll lead the Treasury Credit Risk sub-team of 3–4 colleagues and work closely with colleagues across the wider Capital and Credit Risk Reporting team and Treasury.
We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best.
At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.
For this role, you'll be based at your nearest regional office or hub. We value time spent together to connect with colleagues for collaboration so there will be a regular requirement to attend our Swindon or London office approximately once per quarter. If you are based at an office location, you'll be expected to meet our hybrid working requirement of at least two days a week, or 40% of your working time if part-time, in the office.
If you’re based at our Glasgow office, this will apply from 1 April 2027 and ahead of that there will be a need to regularly connect with colleagues for collaboration events. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works.
Nationwide is committed to the redeployment of our employees impacted by change, as such applications for redeployment candidates will be prioritised in this recruitment process.
If you’re a colleague on long-term absence (for example, on parental leave) or a temporary worker, please use your personal email address to submit an application.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll lead the day-to-day delivery of the Treasury Credit Risk sub-team, setting priorities, planning workloads and supporting colleagues’ development. You’ll take ownership of reporting quality and deadlines, providing technical guidance and review, resolving complex issues and escalating material risks where needed.
Your remit will include Treasury IFRS 9 reporting, expected credit loss analysis, credit risk forecasting, planning and stress testing, alongside supporting wider capital and regulatory reporting. The team will also lead the administration of Stress Test Data Framework (STDF) reporting, including for the upcoming Bank Capital Stress Test (BCST). You’ll review and challenge results and assumptions, explain key movements and present clear insights to senior stakeholders and relevant internal forums. You’ll also maintain robust controls and documentation, build effective stakeholder relationships and drive improvements in data quality, efficiency and automation.
About you
As a minimum requirement you’ll need to have
Well-developed knowledge of IFRS 9 and expected credit loss reporting, with experience applying this in a banking or Treasury environment
Excellent analytical skills and sound judgement, with the ability to review complex data, challenge assumptions and maintain robust reporting controls and governance
Experience of credit risk reporting, forecasting, planning or stress testing, with the ability to manage competing demands and deliver to reporting deadlines
Experience using, or an appetite to explore, Microsoft Copilot to improve efficiency and streamline day-to-day work
Project planning experience, using tools such as Microsoft Planner to organise activities, track progress and manage deadlines
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including explaining technical matters clearly to senior audiences
Advanced Excel skills and experience improving reporting processes
