To this end, in partnership with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), FPHNYC incubates innovative public health initiatives implemented by DOHMH to advance community health throughout the city. It facilitates partnerships, often new and unconventional, between government and the private sector to develop, test, and launch new initiatives. These collaborations speed the execution of demonstration projects, effect expansion of successful pilot programs, and support rapid implementation to meet the public health needs of individuals, families, and communities across New York City.

Our Culture We embrace a culture of learning, collaboration, innovation, and well-being, where open communication drives our impact. About The Role The GAC Fund Data Analyst will work under the direction of the GAC Project Manager to develop the needed tools, methodology and approach to help inform the GAC landscape analysis. This role will manage and analyze datasets, develop and conduct surveys and/or interviews with participating programs for the purpose of informing fund design and evaluating the fund.

The Data Analyst monitors and evaluates the performance of GAC Fund grantees/contractors. The GAC Fund Data Analyst is part of the team primarily responsible for citywide efforts to promote and protect access to gender affirming care. About the Program Gender-affirming care (GAC) is recognized by major U.S. medical associations as medically necessary for many transgender and gender-diverse people. In addition, many transgender and gender non-conforming/non-binary (TGNCNB) individuals also need legal or practical assistance in updating their identification documents, combatting jobs or housing discrimination, or even accessing education or bathrooms.

Research shows GAC is associated with reduced depression and suicidal ideation, and better long-term mental health outcomes. Denial of care or legal recognition of one’s identity increases risk of mental health crisis and unsafe self-treatment. Yet access has become increasingly difficult due to state-level restrictions, insurance barriers, and shifting federal guidance. New York City has been an innovator and leader in sexual and reproductive health.

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene has long followed the tenets of the Sexual and Reproductive Justice Framework which states that all people should have the power and resources to make healthy decisions about their bodies, including sexuality and reproduction. As part of these efforts, the Health Department will develop and implement a new fund to contract with clinical providers to ensure access to care for youth in need of gender-affirming care.

This funding will enable providers of youth gender-affirming care to address financial shortfalls resulting from any denials or reductions in federal funding and increase their capacity to ensure continuity of care for medically necessary hormone therapy for transgender youth in accessible and affordable care settings. Responsibilities The GAC Fund Data Analyst will: Collect, track and produce program data and progress of funded organizations, prepare reports on performance to ensure accountability, and contribute to strategic planning.

Work with GAC Fund Program Coordinator to regularly review programmatic data. Evaluate the effectiveness of GAC Fund initiatives and recommend improvements. Synthesize findings to assess GAC Fund’s reach, need, and marketing efforts; provide feedback to GAC Fund grantees/contractors. Assist with the preparation of presentations and other written materials for internal and external audiences. Contribute to reports, scientific papers and dissemination of GAC Access Initiatives.
