Principal Migration Automation Engineer

We are looking for a Principal Migration Automation Engineer to deploy and extend the Cloud Migration Factory hyper-automation framework for a large-scale enterprise migration to AWS. The role owns automation across the migration lifecycle, from portfolio assessment and wave planning through rehost execution with AWS Application Migration Service (MGN), and produces the SOPs that let the factory run repeatably at scale.

The work is AWS-native: Cloud Migration Factory on AWS, AWS MGN, AWS Migration Hub, and infrastructure-as-code automation packages Responsibilities Deploy and configure the Cloud Migration Factory on AWS framework along with its supporting automation infrastructure packages Develop custom automations and adapt pre-built automation scripts covering server discovery, prerequisite checks, agent installation, and cutover tasks Automate repeatable migration patterns end to end, reducing the manual effort required per wave and per server Analyze the application and server portfolio using Migration Portfolio Assessment (MPA) to define migration strategies, dependency groups, and wave plans Translate assessment output into factory-ready wave, application, and server metadata Align automation scope and sequencing with portfolio priorities and business constraints Orchestrate rehost migrations through AWS MGN, covering replication, test launches, and cutover activities Write SOPs and runbooks for factory operations so migration teams can execute waves consistently Track migration status and automation outcomes, feeding lessons learned back into the framework for continuous improvement Requirements A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience At least 2 years in Senior, Lead, Manager, or Owner-level roles Proven track record managing engagements for teams of 5 or more full-time employees Hands-on experience with AWS Application Migration Service for executing rehost migrations Strong background in automation using scripting and programming languages to streamline repeatable tasks Solid experience in cloud migration, including planning and execution across large-scale environments Practical experience deploying and operating Cloud Migration Factory on AWS Proficiency in Python for building and maintaining automation scripts Fluent English communication skills at a B2 level or higher Nice to have Familiarity with AWS Migration Hub for tracking and managing migration progress Background in infrastructure automation and orchestration to support scalable migration processes Experience with PowerShell for scripting and automation tasks Relevant certification, which would be considered a valuable addition to your qualifications [GTS] Benefits (generic, except India) International projects with top brands Work with global teams of highly skilled, diverse peers Healthcare benefits Employee financial programs Paid time off and sick leave Upskilling, reskilling and certification courses Unlimited access to the LinkedIn Learning library and 22,000+ courses Global career opportunities Volunteer and community involvement opportunities EPAM Employee Groups Award-winning culture recognized by Glassdoor, Newsweek and LinkedIn
