Project Overview
We are a consulting service team within EY Strategy and Consulting Co., Ltd. that specializes in helping our client fix problems in their business. We call this Work Design consultation. This consultation focuses on helping clients address problems by redesigning how work is performed across three different areas: people, process, and systems. Our team brings strong capabilities in process analysis, documentation, control design, manual creation, and audit support.
For each engagement, we collaborate with capable professionals (subject matter experts - or SMEs for short) who contribute deep hands-on expertise in specific functional areas such as accounting, finance, tax, human resources or other specialized domains. For this engagement, we are seeking an experienced SME to work alongside our team and client stakeholders. This is a project-based role, where expertise is applied through defined deliverables.

How You Would Contribute (Scope of Work)
As part of the team, you would apply your expertise through activities such as:
Manage month-end and year-end close activities, journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and balance sheet reconciliations.
Oversee AP, AR, expenses, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, depreciation, and inventory accounting.
Prepare financial reporting under J-GAAP, US GAAP, and IFRS
Process intercompany transactions and support tax compliance, consumption tax, and corporate tax filings.
Maintain accurate accounting records, financial statements, and ERP data integrity.
Collaborate with local stakeholders in Japanese and manage communications with external advisors and tax firms.
Collaboration with offshore accounting team in South East Asia.
Support, guide, and oversee offshore accounting teams to ensure effective delivery and knowledge sharing.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives, process documentation, reporting enhancements, and finance transformation projects.
Engagement Style
You would work collaboratively with EY consultants and client teams, contributing practical, hands-on expertise while our team supports process design, documentation, and implementation activities. The exact focus areas may evolve as the project progresses, depending on client priorities and findings.
