Accounting Support Project with Renewable Energy Client

Project Overview

We are a consulting service team within EY Japan Consulting that specializes in helping our client fix problems in their business. We call this Work Design consultation. This consultation focuses on helping clients address problems by redesigning how work is performed across three different areas: people, process, and systems. Our team brings strong capabilities in process analysis, documentation, control design, manual creation, and audit support. For each engagement, we collaborate with capable professionals (subject matter experts - or SMEs for short) who contribute deep hands-on expertise in specific functional areas such as accounting, finance, tax, or other specialized domains.

For this engagement, we are seeking an experienced finance SME to work alongside our team and client stakeholders. This is a project-based role, where expertise is applied through defined deliverables. How You Would Contribute (Scope of Work)

As part of the team, you would apply your expertise through activities such as:

Perform monthly and year‑end close activities

Post and review journal entries

Maintain general ledger accuracy

Prepare balance‑sheet reconciliations

Manage day‑to‑day AP, AR, and expense processing

Track accruals and prepayments

Support fixed‑asset accounting and depreciation

Prepare supporting schedules for audits

Maintain accounting documentation and evidence

Ensure data accuracy in ERP systems

Support the Accounting Manager with reporting and analysis

Prepare statutory accounting support under J‑GAAP

Assist with local audit requests and evidence preparation

Support corporate tax calculations and tax adjustment schedules

Handle operational aspects of consumption tax (VAT)

Prepare J‑GAAP to IFRS / US GAAP adjustment schedules

Support HQ reporting pack preparation

Process and reconcile intercompany transactions

Maintain documentation for transfer pricing support

Perform inventory accounting tasks

Execute POS‑to‑GL reconciliations and investigate variances

Support landed‑cost allocation (freight, duties, imports)

Communicate with local teams in Japanese and escalate issues appropriately

You would work collaboratively with EY consultants and client teams, contributing practical, hands-on expertise while our team supports process design, documentation, and implementation activities. The exact focus areas may evolve as the project progresses, depending on client priorities and findings.
