The role
Drawing on its reputation for providing deep industry experience and leading consulting services to the wealth and asset management industry, EY is continuing to grow its Wealth and Asset Management Business Transformation practice.
The hardest transformations are rarely just strategy, operating model or technology problems. They cut across all three, and they need people who can make sense of the complexity and keep change moving.
Wealth and Asset Management is being reshaped by changing client expectations, fee and cost pressure, private markets growth, regulation and the accelerating impact of data and AI.
As a Manager in Wealth and Asset Management Business Transformation, you will own that challenge for meaningful parts of our client engagements: framing the problem, shaping the answer, managing the route to implementation and creating the confidence to act.
The opportunity
Working closely with some of the most recognisable names in the Wealth and Asset Management industry, we understand what is really important and provide strategic advice and expertise to support our clients.
You will work on questions that sit high on the management agenda: where to grow, how to serve clients better, how to simplify the business, what the future operating model should look like, and where data, AI and technology can create a step change rather than an incremental improvement. You will have room to challenge the obvious answer, connect strategy with execution and lead teams that leave clients with a result they can sustain, not simply a recommendation.
We deliberately work end to end, from understanding the strategic question and building the case for change through future-state design, mobilisation, implementation and benefits realisation.
As a Manager, you will connect those stages, own a significant part of the transformation and help ensure the answer creates measurable value rather than ending as a recommendation.
Our insights into industry good practice and how the Wealth and Asset Management industry is evolving mean that we are at the heart of strategic change with our clients across:
Business strategy and transformation
Target operating model design and implementation
Customer, client and adviser experience
Growth and scalability, including new products and distribution channels
Strategic cost transformation and operational efficiency
Organisational and regulatory change
Data, AI and technology-enabled transformation
Your key responsibilities
As a valued member of the team, you will deliver a diverse range of client assignments, often managing multi-disciplined EY project teams or workstreams and building EY solutions and methods. You will identify opportunities for new business, contribute to account and revenue growth and develop strong trusted adviser relationships with our clients. Alongside this, you will support EY practice and people development through activities such as recruitment, mentoring and coaching.
Client Delivery and Account Growth
Own significant workstreams across the transformation lifecycle, maintaining strong day-to-day relationships with senior stakeholders and keeping the work focused on outcomes and value.
Identify opportunities arising from client work, contribute to propositions and account development, and develop strong proposals and pursuit materials.
Contribute to account and revenue growth through high-quality delivery and broader client relationships.
Business Strategy, Operating Model and Transformation
Manage workstreams covering target operating model design, process improvement, customer and adviser journeys, organisational change, cost transformation and implementation.
Develop recommendations, roadmaps and business cases that make the case for change clear and connect investment to growth, client outcomes, simplification, productivity and measurable benefits.
Work with client teams from design through mobilisation and implementation, helping translate recommendations into practical change and supporting benefits realisation.
Programme and Delivery Leadership
Manage multi-disciplined project teams and workstreams, including plans, deliverables, risks and dependencies.
Maintain strong client relationships and ensure delivery against agreed outcomes and timelines.
Lead workshops and working sessions and communicate ideas, findings and recommendations clearly to senior stakeholders.
Wealth and Asset Management Domain Expertise
- Bring strong understanding of the Wealth and Asset Management value chain and operating environment, with experience in one or more of asset management, wealth management, alternatives/private markets or asset servicing.
- Apply industry knowledge and market insight to client problems across the front, middle and back office.
- Help clients identify where data, AI, technology and platform change can materially improve client experience, decision-making, productivity and business economics, and incorporate those opportunities into the wider transformation.
- People and Capability Development
- Manage and coach team members, providing clear direction, support and feedback.
- Develop EY solutions, methods and assets and contribute to knowledge sharing and thought leadership.
- Support recruitment and wider people and practice development activities.
- Required skills, experience and domain expertise
- A successful track record in the Wealth and Asset Management industry, gained through experience at a Wealth or Asset Manager, consultancy, specialist financial services firm, or relevant technology or service provider.
- Strong experience designing and delivering change and transformation, including managing project workstreams and multi-disciplined teams.
- Understanding of the Wealth and Asset Management value chain and operating environment, with experience in one or more of asset management, wealth management, alternatives/private markets or asset servicing.
- Strong problem structuring and analytical skills, with experience developing recommendations, roadmaps and business cases.
- Excellent stakeholder management, presentation, storytelling and workshop facilitation skills.
- People management, coaching and mentoring experience.
- An understanding of how data, AI and technology are shaping transformation across Wealth and Asset Management.
- Willingness to travel and work at client sites where required by the client or project.
- Ideally, you’ll also have
- Industry recognised business, finance, IT or project management qualifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, Lean Six Sigma, BPR, CIMA or CFA.
- Experience developing proposals, propositions or other business development activity.
- A good understanding of one or more of the following: buy-side front and middle office, risk, compliance, advice and financial planning, operations, alternatives/private markets or asset servicing.
- A good understanding of end-to-end process flows and functional areas across Wealth and Asset Management.
What we look for
We’re looking for curious, commercially minded Managers who enjoy solving complex problems and turning ideas into action. You’ll bring structure to ambiguity, exercise sound judgement and be confident challenging assumptions while remaining pragmatic about what will work in practice.
You’ll be comfortable moving between the bigger picture and the detail, taking ownership for your work and creating momentum when the route forward is not obvious. Collaborative and adaptable, you’ll build credibility through the quality of your thinking, communication and delivery.
Above all, you’ll be keen to learn, contribute and help others succeed, bringing energy and different perspectives to an inclusive, high-performing team.
What we offer you
At EY, we’ll develop you with future-focused skills and equip you with world-class experiences. We’ll empower you in a flexible environment, and fuel you and your extraordinary talents in a diverse and inclusive culture of globally connected teams. Learn more.
