FYihealth Group Healthcare/BioTech

Business Partner Optometry, People and Culture

Calgary, Canada In person Full-time

Our optometrists are at the heart of FYihealth group's success. Across Canada and California, they play a critical role in delivering exceptional patient care, supporting our growth and shaping the future of our business.

We are seeking a strategic People & Culture Business Partner, Optometry to help develop and advance our people strategy for this important population. This newly created role combines workforce planning, data-driven insights and strategic partnership with the leadership and delivery of key people initiatives.

You will serve as a key connection point across the teams that shape the optometrist experience, including OD leadership, Eye Care Optimization, M&A and Integrations, and P&C centres of expertise. You will bring visibility to shared priorities, identify opportunities for collaboration and help ensure efforts are aligned, while each function maintains ownership of its respective work.

Working closely with senior leaders and clinical professionals, you will influence through relationships rather than direct authority. As a new role, you will have the opportunity to shape its direction, establish new approaches and make a meaningful impact on the experience and long-term success of our optometrists. Nobody will hand you a playbook, and the right person is energized by that.

What You'll Do

  • Workforce Strategy and Insights
  • Lead the development of OD workforce planning across Canada and California, with a focus on supply and demand, retirement risk, succession and geographic coverage.
  • Bring together workforce data and insights to identify trends, risks and opportunities related to recruitment, retention, engagement and productivity.
  • Translate workforce insights into actionable recommendations that inform business decisions and long-term talent strategies.
  • Partner with OD leadership, Talent Acquisition and other stakeholders to identify workforce gaps and develop strategies to address them.
  • Establish meaningful workforce measures and leverage analytics, AI and emerging technologies to improve insights and decision-making.
  • Strategic Partnerships and Connections
  • Connect the teams and functions that influence the optometrist experience, fostering collaboration, shared visibility and alignment on priorities.
  • Identify gaps, overlaps and opportunities for improvement, bringing stakeholders together to develop coordinated solutions.
  • Partner with M&A and Integrations to ensure OD workforce considerations, including retention, contracts and transition planning, are reflected in acquisition and integration activities.
  • Work with P&C centres of expertise and business leaders to ensure OD perspectives and workforce needs inform programs, policies and initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen the optometrist experience, engagement and retention through insights, feedback and collaboration.
  • Strategic Initiatives and Change Enablement
  • Lead assigned strategic P&C initiatives affecting the optometrist population, from planning and stakeholder engagement through implementation and evaluation.
  • Translate business priorities and workforce insights into actionable project plans, coordinating stakeholders and resources to deliver results.
  • Partner with business leaders and Eye Care Optimization to support the people and change management components of major initiatives, including technology and AI-enabled clinical workflows.
  • Develop practical change management approaches that support communication, readiness, engagement and adoption.
  • Identify emerging workforce challenges and opportunities that cross functional boundaries, helping clarify ownership and coordinate solutions.
  • Identifying Opportunities and Driving Solutions
  • Identify OD workforce challenges or opportunities that fall between teams, helping define the issue, clarify ownership and bring the right stakeholders together to drive solutions.
  • Help shape and evolve this newly created role, identifying opportunities to add value and respond to emerging business priorities.

What You Bring

  • Several years of progressive HR experience, with meaningful time in a true business partner or strategy role supporting a senior, professional or clinical population.
  • Comfort with data. You can build a workforce model, interpret it, and explain it to an executive in plain language. Experience with analytics tools (Power BI, Excel at an advanced level, or similar) and a working fluency with AI tools in an HR context.
  • Change management experience on initiatives that touched many stakeholders at once.
  • Strong judgment and presence with senior leaders and highly credentialed professionals. You listen well, earn trust, and are not afraid to say what the data shows.
  • Self motivated and comfortable with ambiguity. You define your own work, set your own priorities and keep moving without close direction.
  • Ability to influence without authority across teams you do not manage.
  • Working knowledge of Canadian employment practices across multiple provinces. Exposure to California or US employment practices is a plus.
  • Bilingual (English and French) is an asset, not a requirement.
  • Experience in healthcare, professional services or another regulated, licensed environment is a plus. Experience in a private equity backed or acquisition driven company is also a plus.

How You'll Benefit

  • A comprehensive total rewards package, including two free pairs of glasses and lenses per year
  • A coaching culture that fosters ongoing growth and development opportunities
  • A people-first culture, (but dogs are also welcome)
  • An organization that gives back locally and nationally, and supports you in doing so as well
