Get to Know the Opportunity

This position is part of Voya Investment Management’s Summer Student Program, offering students the opportunity to gain firsthand experience in the investment management industry while working alongside professionals across the Voya Investment Management organization.

As an Investment Risk Management Summer Student, you will assist the Investment Risk Management team with projects and day-to-day responsibilities. You will engage with business partners, attend risk meetings, and develop a strong understanding of risk management best practices at Voya and across the investment management industry.

This role is based in either our New York or Atlanta office, with expected onsite presence on average up to 3 days per week to support team and business priorities.

The Contributions You’ll Make

• Meet regularly or biweekly with key members of the Investment Risk Management team to learn about the risk function and its partnership with the business.
• Gain exposure to Market Risk, Credit Risk, Equity Risk, Multi-Asset Risk, and Operational Risk.
• Support Mutual Fund Board reporting, including related analysis and written summaries.
• Assist with data visualization initiatives.
• Analyze fixed income, equity, and multi-asset portfolio performance trends.
• Conduct relevant market research.
• Support enhancements to Mutual Fund Board reports.
• Collect and analyze data across various asset classes.
• Assist with edits and updates to Investment Risk policies.
• Participate in risk meetings and collaborate with team members and business partners across Voya Investment Management.

Minimum Knowledge & Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in finance or related field.
• Foundational knowledge of investments and financial markets.
• Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multiple members of the Investment Risk Management team.

Preferred Knowledge & Experience

• Coursework or experience related to finance, investments, risk management, economics, data analytics, or a related field.
• Technical foundation in databases and programming languages, such as Python or SQL.
• Interest in investment risk, portfolio performance, market research, and data analysis.
• Ability to organize information and communicate analytical findings clearly.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools or techniques.

Compensation Pay Disclosure

Voya is committed to pay that’s fair and equitable, which means comparable pay for comparable roles and responsibilities.

The below annual base salary range reflects the expected hiring range(s) for this position in the location(s) listed. In addition to base salary, Voya offers incentive opportunities (i.e., annual cash incentives, sales incentives, and/or long-term incentives) based on the role to reward the achievement of annual performance objectives. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Voya Financial is willing to pay at the time of this posting.

Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted salary range based upon the candidate’s geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
