We’re looking for an experienced Senior Tax Manager with an active CPA license to help lead our Scottsdale tax practice. In this role, you’ll oversee complex tax engagements, provide planning and advisory guidance, develop team members, and partner with local leadership to strengthen client service and support the practice’s future.

What You’ll Do

• Lead Tax Engagements and Technical Review
• Manage a portfolio of individual and business tax engagements from planning through completion.
• Review complex federal and state tax returns, including Forms 1040, 1065, 1120S, 1120, and 1041, as applicable to assigned clients.
• Review workpapers, financial statements, and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Build Client Relationships and Provide Advisory Guidance
• Serve as a primary resource for business owners, individuals, and other key client relationships.
• Lead tax planning discussions, projections, and strategies aligned with each client’s circumstances and goals.
• Identify additional client needs and collaborate with colleagues to connect clients with appropriate expertise.
• Develop People and Strengthen the Team
• Supervise, mentor, and review the work of tax professionals at varying experience levels.
• Coordinate engagement assignments, workloads, and priorities with local leadership.
• Support performance feedback, professional development, and the growth of future leaders.
• Partner With Leadership and Improve the Practice
• Work closely with Scottsdale leadership to share responsibility for technical oversight and complex client work.
• Help build capacity and continuity within the tax team as the practice grows and staffing needs evolve.
• Improve workflows, review processes, and documentation to reduce rework and strengthen consistency.

What We’re Looking For

• Active CPA license required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field; a master’s degree in Taxation or Accounting is a plus.
• Typically eight or more years of progressive public accounting tax experience, including experience managing engagements and reviewing others’ work.
• Recent experience serving individual and business tax clients in a CPA firm.
• Strong technical knowledge of federal and state taxation, including partnerships, S corporations, corporations, and high-net-worth individuals.
• Experience with trusts, estates, and multistate taxation preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex client relationships and provide proactive tax planning.
• Experience supervising, mentoring, and developing tax professionals.
• Ability to independently manage competing deadlines while maintaining quality and responsiveness.
• Strong research, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• An approachable communication style that helps clients understand their options and feel comfortable asking questions.
• Proficiency with professional tax preparation, research, and workflow software.
• Interest in taking on meaningful leadership responsibility and contributing to the long-term strength of the Scottsdale practice.
