At Intelerad, we believe the path to answers in healthcare should be clear-whether you are waiting for a diagnosis or trying to expedite one. Our medical imaging solutions streamline the flow of information, simplifying complex processes, maximizing efficiencies, and shining a light on the unknown. We empower physicians to get patients the answers they need faster and improve outcomes for everyone. With more accessible imaging, we are getting patients out of the dark.
Headquartered in Raleigh, NC and Montreal, Intelerad has nearly 800 employees located in offices across four countries. The company empowers nearly 2,000 healthcare organizations around the world with the speed, scalability, and simplicity needed to increase business performance while, most importantly, improving patient outcomes. Intelerad’s modern enterprise solutions have been acknowledged by a Best in KLAS recognition, ranking #1 for PACS Europe UK/Ireland in the 2026 Best in KLAS: Global Software (Non-US) report.
We are seeking a Senior Software Developer to join the IntelePACS Backend team and deliver new backend capabilities for Intelerad's enterprise medical imaging platform. The team is building toward an AI-first way of working, where agentic coding tools are a core part of how we deliver, with the goal of shipping new capabilities at substantially higher velocity. As a senior individual contributor, you will work with a high degree of autonomy, make sound engineering trade-offs in a regulated healthcare environment, and help shape how agentic tooling is integrated into the team's development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Own backend features end to end, from scoping, requirements, and estimation through design, development, testing, documentation, and release, delivering against committed timelines within Intelerad's regulated SDLC.
- Hold a high bar for correctness, testability, and maintainability in design and code reviews, and contribute to the team's automated test coverage and CI/CD pipeline.
- Improve the performance, scalability, reliability, and security of owned components, and resolve defects, security findings, and production escalations.
- Use agentic coding tools as a routine part of daily development, exercising judgment about which work to delegate to an agent, which to write directly, and how to verify each.
- Establish repository-level agent context and quality gates, and build agent-assisted workflows that reduce overhead across the development lifecycle.
- Apply the same review, testing, traceability, and change-control rigour to AI-assisted contributions as to hand-written code, ensuring compliance obligations are fully met.
- Collaborate with Product Development and cross-functional teams on functionality, user experience, and technical design.
- Act as a subject matter expert and mentor for less-experienced developers, share AI-augmented engineering practices across the organization, and evaluate emerging tooling.
Qualifications & Experience
- 6+ years of professional experience developing and maintaining commercial software.
- Strong Java development experience, including complex, multi-threaded, distributed client/server architectures and best-practice object-oriented design.
- Professional experience with Linux/UNIX, PostgreSQL (schema design, query optimization, migrations), and REST APIs and service-to-service integrations.
- Experience with automated unit and integration testing, Git, and CI/CD tooling.
- Hands-on experience shipping production code with agentic coding tools, with the ability to explain what you delegate to an agent, what you write yourself, and how you validate the difference.
- Practical understanding of where agentic tools fail and the review habits needed to catch it, along with experience configuring agent context and guardrails at the repository level.
- Proven ability to deliver independently in an Agile/Scrum environment, with strong written and verbal communication and the ability to influence others without direct authority.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications & Special Requirements

Building internal tooling or agent workflows adopted beyond your own work.
Healthcare interoperability: DICOM, HL7, FHIR, DICOMweb, or medical imaging workflows.
Regulated environments: FDA, HIPAA, ISO 13485, or quality management systems.
