Director – Real Estate Management Services (REMS) Data & Intelligence

Research Innovation is one of JLL Research's platform teams, built to turn our data, machine learning, AI, and insights capabilities into a competitive advantage.

This role is responsible for working with the REMS business, REMS Research leaders, and REMS technology teams to prioritize, source, and make actionable the data that generates the greatest opportunity for insight — including facilities and property management data, occupancy planning data, portfolio data, and development cost and trend data, drawn from one of the world's largest real estate occupier services companies. From there, the role works across the full Research organization — property sector and industry teams, other business line teams, and local market teams — to ensure that data gets used and folded into insights broadly, not just within REMS.

The Research Innovation Team is looking for a Director with real estate data experience to help us turn that untapped opportunity into usable, trusted tools. This role focuses on data stewardship, integration, and analysis — ensuring the tools and platforms we build for Research stay aligned with what teams and clients actually need. Reports to the Global Director for Capital Markets & REMS Data & Intelligence.

Key Responsibilities

Data discovery & prioritization: Work with the REMS business, REMS Research leaders, and REMS technology teams to identify and evaluate major datasets; prioritize what to source and integrate first based on insight potential

Data stewardship: Act as data custodian — maintain a dataset inventory, know where data lives, and ensure proper governance

Alignment & deduplication: Reconcile overlapping or conflicting data across sources — for example, where two teams hold similar data under different definitions, or where survey instruments and operational data tell overlapping stories — so Research works from a single, trusted version

Data validation & enrichment: Build workflows that validate and enrich data coming from source systems, so Research experts can trust they're working with the highest-quality data available

Market insights: Track how other firms are using comparable data to inform our approach

Cross-functional partnership: Manage a range of stakeholders — REMS Research leadership, REMS business leaders, and REMS data and technology teams — to source and make data actionable, then work across property sector, industry, business line, and local market teams to ensure it's adopted and used research-wide

Tooling & product alignment: Partner with Research Innovation and technology teams to ensure platforms and tools reflect Research's priorities and real-world data needs — not building wholesale products, but keeping them aligned to what the data and business require

AI-augmented insights: Spot opportunities to apply data science and machine learning to strengthen research and decision-making, including building agentic AI tools that automate data workflows and surface insights faster

Enabling storytelling: Partner closely with the researchers and analysts building stories from the data, making sure they get the underlying data and intelligence in the form and detail they need — rather than telling those stories directly

Skills and Qualifications

  • Real estate data experience required (e.g., facilities/property management, occupancy planning, portfolio, or development data)
  • Demonstrated track record of impact and creativity — evidence of driving tangible results matters more than a specific credential
  • Strong data analysis background with complex, multi-source datasets
  • Experience with data discovery, cataloguing, and stewardship
  • Skilled at identifying and resolving overlapping, duplicate, or conflicting data across sources and definitions
  • Experience building data validation and enrichment workflows to ensure high-quality data from source systems
  • Proficiency in Python, R, or SQL, and generative and agentic AI tooling — including building AI agents or workflows that automate data tasks
  • Understanding of data integration, ETL, and database management
  • Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and their business application
  • Strong collaborator, able to understand what data and intelligence other researchers and analysts need, and deliver it in a usable form
  • Skilled at managing a wide range of stakeholders — across business, research, and technology functions — with differing priorities
  • Self-starter, comfortable working both strategically and tactically in a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Real Estate, or a related field
  • Minimum of 6 years in a data or platform role
