As a Senior Manager, you will take stewardship of the distribution risk management framework, driving governance excellence, leading complex risk assessments, and empowering your team. Your core focus areas include:
High-Stakes Investigations & Executive Engagement
Predictive Risk & Thematic Analysis: Look beyond surface-level indicators to anticipate systemic risks, complex fraud vectors, or market misconduct across the distribution lifecycle before they escalate.
Complex Case Leadership: Direct deep-dive reviews, transaction forensic analyses, and high-risk case investigations involving third-party participants, synthesising granular evidence into clear root-cause conclusions.
Influence & Stakeholder Negotiation: Navigate complex business dynamics, anticipate stakeholder objections, and present well-reasoned counter-arguments to align executive stakeholders around proactive risk management solutions.
Strategic Governance & Risk Framework Ownership
Framework Leadership & Control Optimisation: Lead the ongoing design, uplift, and implementation of the third-party distribution risk management framework; continuously stress-test controls to ensure they are operating effectively to prevent and detect emerging issues.
Risk Appetite & Decisive Action: Monitor compliance against risk tolerances, taking immediate and decisive action to address situations where the risk appetite of the business is challenged or exceeded.
Regulatory Translation into Operational Excellence: Translate complex regulatory developments, industry guidance (such as ASIC/APRA standards), and internal policies into pragmatic, streamlined operational workflows and supervisory oversight mechanisms.
Credible Challenge & Commercial Judgment: Provide robust, independent, and constructive challenge to business and distribution partners, balancing short-term commercial demands against longer-term risk outcomes and client protection.
People Leadership, Coaching & Risk Culture
Team Development & Empowerment: Lead, coach, and inspire a growing team of risk professionals; provide appropriate stretch assignments, set clear performance benchmarks, and celebrate team achievements.
Navigating Ambiguity & Change: Serve as an anchor during periods of acute pressure or shifting regulatory landscapes, helping team members manage ambiguity, prioritise competing demands, and maintain high standards of execution.
Embedding Risk Culture: Lead by example to strengthen risk culture across Wealth Management, instilling clear accountability, rigorous ownership, and transparent escalation across front-line distribution teams.
