Description
Marsh Aviation & Aerospace is seeking a Junior Space Broker / Technical Assistant to join our Space Insurance Broking team in London. This role offers a distinctive opportunity to apply analytical, technical and commercial skills in a highly specialized, client-facing environment at the centre of the global space insurance market. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
Space insurance is a specialist field covering high-value satellites, launch vehicles, and related liabilities. Success in this role requires understanding of technical issues, strong communication skills, data and analytics skills and to transfer this into the tools to support our discussions with clients, insurers, and colleagues.
This role is ideal for a technically strong graduate or early-career insurance professional who is interested in the commercial side of the space sector. Prior aerospace industry experience would be valuable, and previous insurance market exposure could be helpful, but neither is essential if you bring the right technical aptitude, curiosity, and communication skills.
We will rely on you to
Review technical / contractual documents relating to insured satellites and launch vehicles and provide comments where appropriate.
Assist with the preparation of technical and client-facing presentations to insurers and help manage the flow of information between clients and insurers.
Support discussions with colleagues on coverage design for launch and in-orbit placements so solutions reflect both technical and client requirements.
To support the space insurance placement function. Assist with providing offers for placement to Insurers, collating responses and getting involved in all aspects of the activity from preparation, through to negotiation and finalisation of the insurance placement.
Assist in our business development activities with a focus on technical assessment, statistical analysis, and clear presentation of findings.
Compose reports, spreadsheets, and supporting analytics to update clients, prospects, and colleagues on market developments and team activity.
Contribute to space industry and space insurance database and provide innovative data and analytics solutions to the team.
What you need to have
- The ability to understand complex issues and explain the key points clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentations.
- Comfort working in a commercial, collaborative, and client-focused environment.
What makes you stand out
- Previous experience in the aerospace industry in a technical or engineering role.
- A degree in aerospace, aeronautical, mechanical engineering, or another science or technology discipline providing comparable technical grounding.
- Experience in a commercial or customer-facing environment, ideally with an international dimension.
- Previous insurance market experience.
- Foreign language capability would be an advantage.
Why join our team
- We help you be your best through professional development opportunities, interesting work and supportive leaders.
- We foster a vibrant and inclusive culture where you can work with talented colleagues to create new solutions and have impact for colleagues, clients and communities.
- Our scale enables us to provide a range of career opportunities, as well as benefits and rewards to enhance your well-being.
