About the Team

AI Governance reviews all AI products at Mastercard - whether those products are built internally or bought through third party providers. We assess risk upfront and at runtime and prescribe risk controls that promote AI fairness, efficacy, safety and transparency. We track and monitor AI use and control implementation throughout the enterprise, ensuring that our AI Systems are aligned to Mastercard’s Data & Tech Responsibility Principles.

We set policy, create industry standards, and participate in the global AI Governance discussion – all to make responsible AI development easier for all our teammates.

This role is based within Mastercard’s AI Governance Framework team. This team is responsible for designing, testing, scaling and improving Mastercard’s AI Governance Framework, the set of processes for AI risk management, control verification, change management and ongoing AI system monitoring at Mastercard. The Framework team is responsible for augmenting Mastercard’s governance to support new modes of AI (like Agentic!).

The team also holds key responsibilities including RAI community engagement and research partnerships. If you’re excited to shape an operationalized AI Governance function and create tangible impact within a collaborative, creative team, then this may be the role for you.
