Senior Analyst, Tag Management & Tracking

Remote Full-time

Role Summary

We are seeking a Senior Analyst, Tag Management & Tracking to join the Customer Profile & Identity team within McAfee’s Analytics Platform & Enablement organization. You will own the tagging and tracking layer that every marketing measurement decision at McAfee depends on — the tag management system, the data layer, the campaign parameter framework, and the third-party vendor tags and conversion APIs that connect mcafee.com to our advertising, affiliate, and marketing platforms.

This is a hands-on technical role at the intersection of marketing, web engineering, and analytics. McAfee’s consumer web experience spans landing pages, cart, and checkout across 40+ locales, instrumented through a tag management system (Tealium iQ and EventStream), an Adobe standard digital Data layer, Adobe Analytics, Adobe Customer Journey Analytics, and a growing set of server-side and client-side vendor integrations — Google (Floodlight, Offline Conversion Import), Meta Conversions API, Microsoft, TikTok, LinkedIn, Reddit, Snapchat, Amazon, Impact Radius, and more.

You will be the person accountable for making sure all of it fires correctly, collects the right data, and stays governed.

You will own tag governance end to end: intake and requirements for new vendor tags, implementation and QA in the tag management system across dev/QA/production environments, validation that business-as-usual tags continue to fire and collect after every website release, and the campaign parameter and tracking specifications that make downstream measurement and attribution possible. When a metric looks wrong, you are the person who traces it from the ad click through the URL parameters, the data layer, the tag management extensions, and the analytics beacon to find where it broke.

This position reports to the Senior Manager of Customer Profile & Identity and works in close partnership with Web Engineering, MarTech, Marketing, Data Engineering, Privacy/InfoSec, and external vendor and agency teams.

Location: This is a remote position based in the United States or Canada. We will only consider candidates currently authorized to work in the US or Canada and are not offering relocation assistance at this time.

About the Role

Own third-party tag vendor governance and implementation — serving as the single point of accountability for how advertising, affiliate, and marketing vendor tags are requested, reviewed, approved, implemented, versioned, and retired across the consumer web estate

Maintain a governed tag inventory — documenting every active tag, its owner, its business purpose, the pages and locales it fires on, the data it collects, and its consent requirements; proactively identifying and removing tags that no longer serve a purpose

Ensure business-as-usual (BAU) tags are implemented and collecting as required — monitoring tag health continuously, validating collection after every website and template release, and driving rapid resolution when a tag stops firing or starts reporting incorrect values

Own campaign parameter and tracking requirements — defining and governing the URL parameter framework (campaign hierarchy, source and sub-channel codes, promo codes, price, affiliate IDs, ad platform click IDs) so that traffic, conversion, and revenue can be attributed accurately end to end

Translate marketing measurement requirements into technical tracking specifications — partnering with Marketing, Product, and Analytics to turn a campaign or experiment plan into a documented spec covering data layer fields, tag management variables, analytics dimensions and events, and vendor payloads

Ensure the data layer is firing and passing correct data to every tag — owning the digitalData contract between the CMS/content layer and the tag management system, defining required fields and value formats, and working with Web Engineering to fix gaps, timing issues, and value transformation defects

Enable destinations to required systems — configuring and validating the flow of events and audiences from the web collection layer to analytics, CDP, customer engagement, and advertising destinations, including server-side conversion APIs and first-party domain collection

Implement and QA tag management changes across environments — building load rules, extensions, and variable mappings; managing promotion from dev to QA to production; and following release governance including HAR/vendor validation, UAT sign-off, and go-live monitoring

Build and run tracking validation and QA processes — using browser debugging tools, network beacon inspection, and automated validation (headless browser scripting, parameter comparison, pre/post release checks) to confirm tracking integrity at scale rather than by spot-check

Lead root cause analysis on tracking and attribution defects — tracing a discrepancy from the source click through URL parameters, the data layer, tag management logic, and the vendor beacon; quantifying impact; and delivering a documented fix with a regression check

Support website migrations, redesigns, and A/B tests — producing pre/post tracking comparisons, running go/no-go validation on new URL structures and templates, and ensuring experiments are instrumented so results are measurable and trustworthy

Partner with Privacy, Legal, and InfoSec on consent and compliance — ensuring tags respect consent management and cookie banner behavior, that new vendor tags clear privacy review before launch, and that collected data stays within approved boundaries

Govern analytics variable allocation — maintaining a solution design reference for analytics dimensions and events, preventing redundant and duplicate variable use, and freeing capacity for new tracking needs

Manage vendor and agency relationships on the implementation side — running technical onboarding for new tag vendors, resolving integration issues with platform support teams, and holding vendors accountable to documented requirements

Document and communicate clearly — maintaining implementation guides, tracking specifications, release notes, and validation reports that Marketing, Engineering, and Analytics can all rely on as the source of truth

About You

You have 5+ years of hands-on experience in web analytics implementation, tag management, or marketing technology engineering

You have deep hands-on experience with an enterprise tag management system (Tealium iQ, Adobe Experience Platform Tags/Launch, or Google Tag Manager) — building load rules, extensions, variable mappings, and managing versioned promotion across dev/QA/production environments

You are fluent with data layers — you can read and debug a JavaScript data layer object, define what a page must expose, and explain precisely how a value travels from the data layer into a tag payload

You have strong working JavaScript and browser debugging skills — DevTools, network beacon inspection, HAR capture, tag debugger extensions — and can diagnose why a tag is not firing without waiting on an engineer

You have production experience implementing Adobe Customer Journey Analytics (eVars, props, events, AppMeasurement) or an equivalent enterprise analytics platform, including maintaining a solution design reference

You have implemented third-party advertising and affiliate tags and conversion APIs — Google Ads/Floodlight, Meta, Microsoft, TikTok, LinkedIn, Reddit, Snapchat, affiliate networks — and understand click ID capture, deduplication, and conversion payload requirements

You understand campaign tracking and attribution mechanics — UTM and custom parameter frameworks, click ID persistence, channel and sub-channel taxonomy, and how a broken parameter silently corrupts reporting

You are rigorous about validation — you build repeatable QA processes and pre/post release checks rather than relying on manual spot-checks, and you can automate them when volume demands it

You have strong SQL skills and can query event and clickstream data directly to confirm that what you implemented actually landed correctly downstream

You can operate as the governance owner — saying no to an ungoverned tag request, holding a vendor to a documented requirement, and running an intake process that Marketing stakeholders actually respect

You communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences — writing tracking specifications engineers can build from and explaining measurement impact to marketers in business terms

You have experience working in agile environments with 2-week sprints, managing recurring release-validation work alongside project deliverables, and communicating progress proactively

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Tealium iQ and Tealium EventStream, including first-party domain collection and server-side event forwarding
  • Experience with Adobe Customer Journey Analytics (CJA), Adobe Experience Platform, Web SDK, and XDM schema design
  • Experience with a CDP or event-routing platform (Hightouch, Segment, mParticle) and configuring downstream destinations
  • Experience with Databricks or an equivalent lakehouse platform for validating clickstream and event data
  • Experience with Python or Node.js for test automation (headless browser validation, parameter comparison, tag monitoring)
  • Experience with consent management and privacy compliance for web tags (GDPR/CCPA, cookie banners, consent-gated tag firing)
  • Experience supporting a high-volume consumer eCommerce or subscription business across multiple locales
  • Experience with A/B testing and experimentation platforms and the instrumentation they require
