Our team drives the strategic, cross-organizational programs that safeguard platform availability, automate production operations, and scale our infrastructure globally. We partner closely with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), core product development and infrastructure teams to minimize operational toil, eliminate single points of failure, and raise the bar on platform resilience. Senior engineering leadership relies on our team to orchestrate high-visibility initiatives that keep Akamai's globally distributed platform fast, reliable, and secure.

Shape the success of projects

As a Senior Technical Program Manager, you will serve as the strategic bridge between SRE, product, and platform teams. You will drive cross-organizational initiatives that translate reliability and performance goals into measurable engineering roadmaps.

As a Senior Technical Program Manager, you will be responsible for:

Partnering across SRE, Product, and Platform Engineering to establish unified reliability, performance, and platform health roadmaps

Driving core reliability programs, including Service Level Objectives (SLOs/SLIs), error budget governance, disaster recovery (DR) drills, and multi-region resilience testing

Championing platform performance and health initiatives, identifying architectural bottlenecks, systemic failure modes, and capacity constraints across critical services

Leading operational excellence and toil-reduction programs, automating operational workflows, modernizing observability, and instituting production readiness standards

Orchestrating cross-functional dependency management, unblocking complex initiatives and aligning engineering priorities between feature velocity and platform stability

Providing executive visibility into platform health metrics, reliability trends, and critical program milestones

To be successful in this role you will

• Have relevant technical program management experience, partnering closely with SRE, cloud infrastructure, or distributed systems teams
• Be comfort navigating ambiguity, handling risks, and shifting gears as needed across rapidly evolving environments
• Have deep familiarity with reliability and performance domains, including SLOs/SLIs, error budgets, observability (metrics, logs, traces), high-availability architectures, and chaos/resilience principles.
• Have proven track record of driving cross-functional alignment, uniting product, architecture, and operations teams around shared platform health goals
• Have good interpersonal and organizational skills with an ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders
• Have solid technical fluency, capable of engaging with principal engineers and architects on technical trade-offs, scaling limits, and failure domains
• Have excellent communication and influence skills, fluent in English, with the ability to distill complex production health data for executive audiences
• Have relevant experience or a Bachelor's or Master's diploma in Computer Science or its equivalent
