About our Medical Practice

Prescient has four core practices: Commercial, Competitive Strategy, Medical and Value, Pricing and Access. We specialise in supporting our biopharma clients in making insightful strategic choices for their products and portfolios. The Medical Practice is the scientific engine of the Prescient platform. We are insight-led and evidence-driven, partnering with many of the world's leading pharmaceutical and biotech companies across oncology, rare disease, immunology, neuroscience and beyond.

The Medical Practice works across three core pillars: Medical Strategy and Planning; Integrated Evidence Strategy and Generation; and Organisational Excellence. Our work spans medical strategy and planning, evidence planning, literature review and synthesis and advisory work with medical affairs leaders.

About the opportunity

As an Associate Consultant, you will support medical strategy and evidence projects for global pharma and biotech clients, working closely with project leads and more experienced colleagues. You will provide research, analysis and deliverable support across projects, and help colleagues with proposal development.

The role is varied. You will work across a range of therapeutic areas, client sizes and project types within the Medical Practice, building your scientific and consulting skills quickly. Structured onboarding combines formal training, shadowing colleagues on projects and on-the-job coaching, so you have the support you need to hit the ground running.

Key responsibilities

Primary Research: Help design primary research, such as drafting KOL/HCP discussion guides, and support interviews, advisory boards and workshops, from note-taking through to writing up findings

Secondary Research: Build a clear picture of disease, treatment and competitor landscapes using sources such as PubMed and ClinicalTrials.gov, using AI tools responsibly and cross-checking findings

Analysis: Structure problems logically and, with guidance from the project lead, turn data into insights that client Medical Affairs and evidence teams can act on

Deliverable Development: Create slides and report sections, such as disease overviews and treatment paradigms, with accuracy and internal consistency; support workshop pre-reads and interim or final reports, checking and refining your own work before sharing it for review

Client Focus: Get to know each client’s business, therapy areas and medical teams, and help build strong client relationships through accurate, timely work

Business Development: Support proposals and client communications with research and analysis

Workstream Management: Manage your own tasks against the project workplan, keeping the project manager updated and flagging risks or conflicting priorities early

Team Contribution: Be a collaborative, curious team member who captures clear meeting notes and actions, and grows in confidence to ask questions and share ideas

Professional Development: Own your development by seeking and acting on feedback, building your scientific and therapy area knowledge and growing your network

Required experience and skills

Undergraduate or advanced degree in the life sciences, business or a related discipline, with a strong academic background; an advanced degree is desirable

Internship, research or other corporate experience, or other evidence of interest in consulting, is preferred

Knowledge of the life sciences industry, including drug development across the product lifecycle and the challenges the industry currently faces, and an interest in recent developments

An understanding of the role of Medical Affairs and RWE/HEOR across the product lifecycle and how they differ from other functions, and an interest in our three core pillars: Medical Strategy and Planning; Integrated Evidence Strategy and Generation; and Organisational Excellence

A basic understanding of evidence generation concepts (e.g., clinical vs. real-world evidence, publication planning and the purpose of an integrated evidence plan) and of medical compliance boundaries, including the non-promotional nature of medical activities

An understanding of how to conduct primary research and use secondary sources, including how to use AI tools safely and effectively to support research

Ability to perform key analytical tasks such as data synthesis, data modelling and data visualisation, and to organise your thinking in a clear, logical (MECE) way

A client-centric and quality-focused approach, with a high level of attention to detail

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including fluency in business English

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your own tasks, delivering accurate outputs on time and to a high standard

A track record of meeting or exceeding goals
