Overview
The opportunity
As Planning & Trading Manager, you will support the Planning & Trading Director to turn strategy into exceptional media delivery. The role is weighted towards hands-on implementation, while still giving you meaningful exposure to planning, optimisation, client management and the development of a junior team member.
Your main focus will be a large automotive account operating across Australia and New Zealand, alongside a smaller agricultural account that offers further opportunity to strengthen your client leadership skills. Across a wide mix of channels and changing priorities, you will identify next steps, take initiative and keep delivery moving.
What you will do
- Support the Director to develop and deliver integrated media plans that connect consumer insight, channel strategy and implementation.
- Own hands-on implementation and trading across offline channels, including TV, out-of-home and radio, while coordinating direct digital activity and partner inputs.
- Manage campaign budgets, phasing, financial processes, forecasts, billing and delivery with strong attention to detail.
- Keep fast-moving workstreams on track across Australian and New Zealand activity, including changing timelines, assets and market requirements.
- Build trusted relationships with clients, media partners, publishers and creative partner agencies, proactively following up what is needed to keep delivery moving.
- Bring media recommendations together into a clear, unified story and provide accurate reporting with useful analysis and learnings.
- Coach and develop an Executive or Assistant, checking the quality of work and supporting their growth across tools, systems and media channels.
- Contribute to a proactive, accountable and collaborative team culture where everyone is willing to get into the detail.
What you will bring
- Your capability and readiness for this role matter most. Bring experience in media planning, trading or implementation within an agency environment; around three to five years is a useful guide rather than a fixed requirement.st.
- Strong offline implementation experience and a working understanding of how traditional and digital channels combine to deliver client outcomes.
- Bring experience using relevant tools for media planning, research and buying. Experience with Spectra, Roy Morgan, MOVE, Audiology or TV MAP is valuable, but you do not need experience with every tool listed.
- Sound commercial and numerical judgement, with the ability to manage budgets and identify trends, risks and opportunities.
- Communicate clearly in writing, conversations and presentations. Use these skills to build relationships with clients and media partners.
- Manage deadlines, keep track of the wider account context and identify practical solutions. Take initiative to move work forward independently, using judgement about when to seek input.
- An interest in mentoring junior team members and helping others produce high-quality work.
- Curiosity, eagerness to learn and pride in delivering accurate, well-presented work.
- Why join us?
- Broad exposure across almost every media channel, with meaningful budgets and work that will build your integrated planning and trading capability.
- A supportive team that has each other’s backs, holds one another accountable and avoids unnecessary micromanagement.
- Access to specialists across performance, programmatic, SEO, data and analytics, content and emerging areas such as AI-enabled discoverability.
- Genuine development through training, mentorship, hands-on learning and the opportunity to grow your client and people leadership skills.
- A dynamic category and ambitious client activity, creating plenty of variety and opportunities to innovate.
