Schroders Finance/FinTech

Head of Global Platform Onboarding

London, United Kingdom In person Full-time

Who we’re looking for

This is an opportunity to shape and lead Schroders’ global onboarding proposition, setting the direction for a critical function that supports clients, investment teams and operational colleagues across regions and asset classes. As Global Head of Platform Onboarding, you’ll define the global strategy, service standards and target operating model, while leading senior regional and functional onboarding leaders through a period of continued transformation.

Reporting to the Global Head of Platform Services and sitting on the Platform Services leadership team, you’ll have the mandate to influence at executive level, improve client outcomes, strengthen risk and control, and build a scalable, technology-enabled onboarding service for the future.

About Us

Schroders is a global investment manager which provides active asset management, wealth management and investment solutions. We aim to provide excellent investment performance to clients through active management. We serve a diverse client base that includes pension schemes, insurance companies, sovereign wealth funds, endowments, foundations, high net worth individuals, family offices, as well as end clients through partnerships with distributors, financial advisers, and online platforms.

Established in 1804, we have around 5,500 people across 36 global locations. Schroders' success can be attributed to its diversified business model, spanning different asset classes, client types and geographies.

The base

We moved into our new HQ in the City of London in 2018. We’re close to our clients, in the heart of the UK’s financial centre and we have everything we need to work flexibly.

What you'll do

  • Set global onboarding strategy, service standards and the target operating model, and drive adoption across regions
  • Ultimately accountable for the service delivered by the Indian Operations hub teams and by the case managers
  • Own client outcomes for onboarding: time to onboard, quality, risk and cost
  • Chair and run the governance council, briefed by the regional heads, the Head of Onboarding Delivery & Oversight and the Head of Onboarding Services
  • Approve workflow tool enhancements and the business design of any AI agents supporting onboarding
  • Produce and sponsor the business cases for further investment and improvement
  • Own the global KPI and SLA framework, holding each leader to the standards set for their area
  • Act as the final escalation point where capacity, dates or quality cannot be resolved regionally or in the hub
  • Dual hats as Head of Operations Onboarding, EMEA: chairs the EMEA regional working group and manages key head office stakeholders
  • Build the relationships and network across head office needed to influence decisions and secure support
  • Own the multi-year strategy of continuous improvement, and sequencing of business change requests so the service keeps running while it improves
  • Own the risk and control framework for end to end onboarding, including regulatory exposure, audit outcomes and RCAs
  • Own the headcount budget and deliver the service within the agreed budget
  • Represent onboarding at executive and board level, and with clients and regulators when required
  • Own talent, culture and succession across the global function, developing the leaders beneath you
  • The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need
  • Extensive asset management operations leadership, with deep onboarding, mandate or account opening expertise
  • Track record of running multi-region teams and proposing operating model change
  • Strong commercial and financial judgement; comfortable owning a cost base and a business case
  • Credible with regulators, clients and executive stakeholders
  • Evidence of building capability in offshore or nearshore hubs
  • Genuine interest in technology-led change, including workflow tooling and AI, and the judgement to apply it well
  • Proven at leading a global function through senior managers rather than directly
  • Credible chairing senior governance and building influence through a head office network

What you’ll be like

  • Sets direction and brings the organisation with them; comfortable making decisions with incomplete information
  • Commercially minded - weighs cost, risk and client outcome together
  • Builds trust quickly with executives, regulators and clients
  • Develops leaders beneath them and holds the bar on performance
  • Resilient and calm through change and competing regional priorities
