Middle Office Reconciliation Onboarding - Senior Associate

Bengaluru, India In person Full-time

Location: Bangalore, India

Role overview

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Associate to support end-to-end client onboarding and conversion activities within the Middle Office Reconciliation Onboarding team. The role involves translating business requirements into reconciliation solutions, coordinating system and data readiness, supporting testing and production deployment, and ensuring a controlled transition to business-as-usual operations.

The candidate will work closely with investment managers, custodians, fund administrators, business teams, technology partners, and reconciliation operations. Strong experience in middle office reconciliation, data analysis, data mapping, and TLM/TLP reconciliation platforms is preferred.

Why this role is important to us

The Middle Office Reconciliation Onboarding team supports the implementation of new investment managers and funds onto State Street’s reconciliation platforms. The team acts as a central coordination point across business, operations, technology, clients, and external data providers to ensure that cash, position, transaction, and market-value reconciliation requirements are accurately configured, tested, deployed, and handed over to operations.

This role helps ensure complete system and data readiness, effective risk management, and a controlled, low-risk transition into live reconciliation services.

Key responsibilities

  • Support assigned onboarding projects from requirements gathering through configuration, testing, production deployment, stabilization, and operational handover.
  • Participate in discussions with clients, custodians, fund administrators, operations, and technology teams to understand reconciliation requirements and document agreed scope.
  • Review fund matrices, account structures, reconciliation types, data sources, frequencies, tolerances, matching criteria, and reporting requirements.
  • Analyse cash, position, transaction, and market-value data received through SWIFT messages, flat files, and custodian portals.
  • Support validation of SWIFT MT940, MT950, and MT535 messages and identify data-quality, routing, and mapping gaps.
  • Perform data analysis and mapping for non-SWIFT files and coordinate with ETL and deployment teams to establish appropriate file-processing solutions.
  • Support account, reconciliation shell, lead-account, match-rule, workflow, and static-data setup in BUAT and production environments.
  • Validate feed connectivity, system configuration, data completeness, and reconciliation results before implementation.
  • Coordinate and execute functional testing, BUAT, DITL, conversion rehearsals, production parallel testing, and go-live readiness checks.
  • Document test scenarios, expected results, defects, evidence, approvals, and sign-offs in line with project and control requirements.
  • Investigate reconciliation exceptions and configuration issues, identify root causes, and coordinate corrective actions with the appropriate teams.
  • Maintain project plans, open-item logs, Jira tickets, risk and dependency trackers, meeting notes, status reports, and implementation documentation.
  • Monitor milestones, dependencies, and outstanding actions; escalate delivery risks or control concerns in a timely manner.
  • Communicate conversion, rollout, and stabilization plans clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare standard operating procedures, reconciliation playbooks, configuration records, and handover documentation for business-as-usual teams.
  • Support post-production stabilization and ensure outstanding issues are tracked through closure.
  • Maintain appropriate evidence and audit trails in accordance with operational-risk, information-security, and control requirements.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to standardize processes, improve controls, and reduce manual effort through automation.
  • Provide guidance and knowledge support to junior colleagues and contribute to team training and knowledge-sharing activities.
  • Participate in special projects, system enhancements, process-improvement initiatives, and management reporting as required.

Skills and competencies

  • Strong understanding of middle office reconciliation and the investment-management lifecycle.
  • Hands-on experience with cash, position, transaction, and market-value reconciliation.
  • Working knowledge of TLM/TLP reconciliation platforms, including static setup, reconciliation configuration, matching rules, tolerances, and exception workflows.
  • Experience in external custody data acquisition, SWIFT-message validation, file analysis, and ETL data mapping.
  • Ability to analyse complex data issues, identify root causes, and coordinate practical solutions.
  • Effective stakeholder-management skills and confidence interacting with global business, operations, technology, client, and custodian teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide concise status updates and escalate issues clearly.
  • High attention to detail and a consistent focus on quality.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a global team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with project-tracking, workflow, and process-documentation tools.

Education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 3–5 years of relevant experience in middle office, reconciliation, investment operations, client onboarding, system implementation, or a related function.
  • Practical experience using TLM/TLP or another recognized reconciliation platform.
  • Experience working with custodians, investment managers, fund administrators, or global operations teams is preferred.
  • Understanding of financial instruments, trade lifecycle, IBOR data, and custody operations is advantageous.

Preferred additional skills

  • Exposure to PLM, RKS, CRD, or other investment-servicing platforms.
  • Experience with JIRA, SharePoint, Power BI, Power Query, or workflow-automation tools.
  • Knowledge of Agile or Waterfall project methodologies.
  • Familiarity with root-cause analysis, operational-risk controls, audit requirements, and incident remediation.
  • Experience supporting automation, system enhancements, or process-transformation initiatives.
  • Shift Timings: EMEA/NA
  • Location: Hyderabad/Bangalore
