Why this role?

This is an exciting opportunity to drive commercial growth across our Gift Cards business, spanning Tesco and 3rd Party gift cards across in-store, business to business and digital channels, through a combination of commercial strategy, partnership management and team leadership.

As Senior Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team to deliver commercial performance and long-term business growth. You will shape the customer proposition, manage key supplier relationships and lead growth initiatives, while ensuring robust controls and effective day-to-day operations.

What you'll be doing

  • Define and deliver the Gift Cards commercial strategy, prioritising investment and growth opportunities across products, channels and partnerships, and driving sales, income and profitability against annual budgets and longer-term plans.
  • Own trading performance, forecasting and reporting, using customer insight, market trends and financial analysis to identify opportunities and take action on risks. Coordinate seasonal and peak trading plans across Commercial, Marketing, Operations and suppliers to ensure readiness and maximise trading opportunities.
  • Develop and deliver business cases for growth, including new distribution channels, retail fixtures, digital propositions and improvements to the customer journey.
  • Develop and deliver the distribution strategy, expanding availability and improving visibility and productivity across the retail estate and digital channels.
  • Manage strategic supplier and partner relationships, negotiating commercial terms, overseeing contractual commitments and holding partners accountable for service and delivery.
  • Shape promotional and proposition decisions, working with Marketing, Clubcard and Product teams to drive customer engagement and profitable growth.
  • Lead the commercial delivery of major change initiatives, platform changes and product launches, coordinating Technology, Operations and suppliers through testing, launch readiness and implementation to deliver a seamless customer experience.
  • Maintain effective risk management and operational controls, working with specialist teams to address fraud, incidents and compliance requirements and improve processes.
  • Present clear commercial recommendations to senior stakeholders, securing decisions and investment and escalating risks and dependencies against agreed plans.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team, setting clear priorities and creating a culture of collaboration, ownership and accountability.

What we’re looking for (minimum criteria)

  • Experience managing a commercial product or channel, with a track record of delivering measurable growth and financial results.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills, including budgeting, forecasting, commercial modelling and developing business cases to support investment decisions.
  • Experience managing suppliers and strategic partners, negotiating commercial agreements and improving performance against contractual commitments.
  • Ability to translate customer needs and market insight into clear commercial priorities, stronger propositions and practical delivery plans.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with experience delivering cross-functional initiatives in a complex business.
  • A sound understanding of risk management and operational controls, balancing growth with customer outcomes and business protection.
  • Experience leading, coaching and developing teams, with clear accountability for priorities, resources and delivery.

And if you have any of these, even better

  • Experience in gift cards, payments, retail, financial services or partnership-led businesses.
  • Experience managing a product across retail, business-to-business and digital channels.
  • Knowledge of gift card processing, digital platforms, payment journeys or fraud prevention.
  • Experience working with Tesco, Clubcard or a large retail estate to deliver promotions, distribution growth or new customer propositions.

We welcome applications from everyone. If you’re excited about this role but your experience doesn’t align perfectly with every requirement, we’d still love to hear from you.

What’s in it for you

  • A generous pension, with up to 7.5% employer contribution, depending on what you put in.
  • Private Medical Insurance (WL2+) and virtual GP Service for you and your family
  • Performance related annual bonus.
  • 7.2 weeks holiday, with the opportunity to buy more.
  • Colleague Clubcard discount (10-15% + second card to share with someone else).
  • Enhanced parental leave.
