As a SDET, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and observability of critical supply chain systems at Tesla. You will lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of a robust test automation framework using Python and pytest, integrating deeply with Splunk for log analysis and debugging, and building test reports that teams can dig into and share (e.g. Allure). You’ll work closely with product, development, and release teams to shift quality left and drive testability improvements.
This is a high-impact, fast-moving role requiring strong technical judgment, deep automation expertise, and the ability to operate independently while influencing cross-functional teams. You’ll be instrumental in shaping how we test, monitor, and improve the next generation of global supply chain systems. Design, develop, and maintain scalable, maintainable, and performant test automation frameworks using Python and PyTest.
Implement end-to-end, integration, and regression test suites across API, database, and UI that cover critical supply chain workflows. Integrate test execution with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins), ensuring fast feedback and traceability. Build detailed, actionable test reports, dig into the results, and share them with stakeholders, providing visibility into test coverage, failure trends, and performance metrics.
Champion testability improvements by collaborating with developers to design systems that are easier to test and monitor. Proactively identify risks and recommend improvements based on data, trends, and industry standards. 5+ years of software engineering focused on test automation. Solid test automation experience in a modern programming language (Python preferred; Java, C#, JavaScript, or TypeScript), writing structured, modular, and reusable test code.
Proven experience building and maintaining large-scale test automation frameworks in production environments. Hands-on experience executing API, database, and UI tests. Strong SQL skills for querying and interacting with databases to validate data and support test scenarios. Experience building test reports, digging into the results, and sharing them with stakeholders (e.g. Allure or similar reporting tools). Solid understanding of CI/CD principles and patterns, including integration of automated tests into build and deployment workflows.
Practical experience setting up and keeping test infrastructure running, including pipelines, runners, and environments. Solid knowledge of RESTful APIs, HTTP protocols, and service-level testing. Familiarity with logging best practices, structured logging (JSON), and observability principles. Willing to go deep on factory and logistics operations. A supply chain career is not required Mastering the English language in both written and verbal form is required.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
