Since our founding in 2017, we’ve rapidly grown into a global leader, expanding our robust portfolio to include industry-defining brands such as cPanel & WHM, Plesk, WHMCS, SolusVM, XOVI, SocialBee, Sitejet and Comet Backup.
Today, we power 85 million+ websites across 900,000+ servers worldwide, backed by a 650+ strong team of dedicated professionals spanning multiple continents. At WebPros, we focus on flexibility, autonomy, and work-life balance, with remote and hybrid working options available depending on the country and role. Whether you prefer working from a bustling city hub or a quiet home office, we enable our teams to thrive while staying deeply connected through our strong collaborative culture.
Your Role
Hi, I’m Sascha Fuchs, Team Lead Monitoring at WebPros and your future manager. My team runs two backend platforms: the 360 Monitoring architecture and the KoalityEngine. One of our senior developers is going on parental leave, and we need someone to take over the KoalityEngine and our WHM integration (the 360 Monitoring plugin for cPanel & WHM) from 2 November 2026 to 1 May 2027. The KoalityEngine has grown over the years, is only partly documented and has many custom solutions, so you'll get four weeks of overlap with the current owner before it's yours to run. Customers rely on monitoring to tell them when something breaks, which is why it has to stay healthy while its owner is away.
Key Responsibilities
- Run and develop the KoalityEngine day to day, including its custom solutions, so the platform stays reliable during the leave.
- Maintain the WHM integration (360 Monitoring plugin for cPanel & WHM) so customers on cPanel servers keep getting working monitoring.
- Troubleshoot production issues across the backend systems, including on-call-style incident work, to keep downtime short.
- Deliver backend work on the 360 Monitoring side, including the Auth0 decommissioning, so we can move off Auth0 cleanly.
- Take on DevOps tasks (deployments, infrastructure, server maintenance) so releases and servers stay stable.
- Work with the second senior backend developer, QA and product to plan and ship changes with the right context and testing.
Your Qualifications
Must-Haves
- Several years of professional backend development at senior level, with strong PHP (Symfony) and solid Node.js / TypeScript
- Proven ability to get productive quickly and independently in large, existing codebases with limited documentation
- Experience operating production systems: debugging, monitoring, incident handling
- Fluent English and availability within CET ±2 hours
Nice-to-Haves
DevOps experience (Linux servers, CI/CD, Docker)
MongoDB
- Experience with cPanel & WHM or hosting / monitoring products
- Authentication / identity migrations (e.g. Auth0, OAuth/OIDC)
- Your Impact In The First 120 Days
30 Days – Learn & Integrate
Finish the handover with the current owner: a walkthrough of the KoalityEngine and the WHM integration.
Get access to all the systems you need and ship at least one small change.
60 Days – Contribute & Collaborate
The current owner is gone. Handle troubleshooting and deployments on your own.
Know where the KoalityEngine's custom solutions are and why they exist.
90 Days – Take Ownership
Own changes to the WHM integration from start to finish with QA and product.
Contribute to the Auth0 decommissioning on the 360 Monitoring side.
120 Days – Drive Growth
- Be the person the team asks about the KoalityEngine.
- Set priorities with the second senior backend developer.
- Leave the system in a state the current owner can pick up again without surprises.
You Might Thrive Here If You…
- Read unfamiliar code and work out why it was built that way before changing it
- Ask the current owner direct questions in the first four weeks, while they're still around
- Stay calm and methodical when debugging a live production issue
- Work remotely and async, and keep people updated without being chased
- Like fully owning a system for a defined period and handing it back in good shape
You Might Struggle Here If You…
- Want clean, well-documented code from day one, because this codebase has gaps and custom solutions
- Want to rewrite things, because this role is about keeping the platform running, not rebuilding it
- Need a detailed spec before you start working
- Are looking for a permanent role, because this contract ends on 1 May 2027
- Prefer pure feature work and don't want incident and ops work
- Need a long onboarding period, because the handover is four weeks and after that you're on your own
