The opportunity
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, we are hiring a Head of Procurement and Strategic Sourcing to build WELL Health’s procurement function from the ground up. You will develop and implement procurement strategies, establish practical policies and processes, and create a consolidated view of company-wide spend to identify, prioritize, and realize savings opportunities. Working closely with Finance and business leaders, you will lead competitive sourcing processes, negotiate supplier agreements, and establish approaches to vendor selection, contracting, and purchasing across areas such as technology, medical supplies, real estate and facilities, and consulting.
This is a hands-on, individual contributor role where you will shape how procurement works across a growing, multi-site organization while delivering measurable financial value and supporting continued growth and the integration of acquisitions.
This is a full-time, permanent hybrid role with occasional in-office work in Toronto or Vancouver. Exceptional candidates based elsewhere may also be considered.
Who you are
You bring procurement experience that combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution. You’re comfortable establishing new processes, working with senior leaders and operational teams, and finding practical ways to deliver measurable business results. You’re motivated by the opportunity to shape a developing function and make a tangible impact across a growing organization.
What's in it for you
Build a procurement function from the ground up. You’ll establish WELL Health’s procurement strategy, shape practical processes, and create a centralized approach to sourcing and purchasing across the organization.
Deliver measurable business impact. Your sourcing strategies and supplier negotiations will help identify savings, improve purchasing decisions, and create financial value across a diverse, multi-site healthcare organization.
Work directly with executive leadership. Reporting to the COO, you’ll partner with senior leaders and teams across the business to identify opportunities, build alignment, and turn procurement improvements into action.
You will
Build the procurement strategy. Develop a practical procurement strategy that establishes how WELL Health identifies sourcing opportunities, evaluates suppliers, and makes purchasing decisions. Create policies, processes, and guidelines that support consistent, effective procurement across the organization.
Analyze spend and identify savings. Build a consolidated view of company-wide spend to understand where money is being spent and where savings can be achieved. Assess opportunities across technology, medical supplies and consumables, real estate and facilities, consulting, and other categories, then quantify potential savings and prioritize where to focus.
Lead competitive sourcing and negotiations. Manage sourcing initiatives from opportunity identification through supplier selection and contract execution. Develop and run RFPs, establish evaluation criteria, and compare supplier proposals while negotiating agreements that deliver value, quality, and terms that meet business needs. Explore creative commercial arrangements, such as volume discounts, threshold-based incentives, vendor-of-record agreements, and optimized purchasing or payment methods.
Establish procurement governance. Put practical policies, approval processes, and purchasing guidelines in place to support sound decision-making and appropriate oversight. Help teams understand how and when to engage procurement while ensuring the approach remains flexible enough to meet the needs of a growing organization.
Strengthen supplier and contract management. Establish a clear view of supplier relationships and agreements, including contract terms, renewal dates, and opportunities to improve commercial arrangements. Support effective supplier selection, negotiation, and ongoing performance management.
Partner across the business and deliver results. Work closely with the COO, Finance, technology leaders, and operational teams to understand business priorities, build alignment, and turn sourcing opportunities into action. Track sourcing outcomes and validate realized savings with Finance, while supporting procurement integration as WELL Health grows through acquisitions. In your first 90 days, build a consolidated view of company-wide spend, identify and prioritize savings opportunities, and work toward completing two to three end-to-end competitive sourcing processes.
Here's what you bring
The procurement experience. You have experience developing procurement strategies, analyzing spend, identifying savings opportunities, and leading sourcing initiatives from start to finish. Experience across categories such as technology, facilities, medical supplies, or professional services is valuable; healthcare experience is an asset, but not required.
The commercial skills. You’re confident leading supplier negotiations, evaluating proposals, managing contracts, and developing creative agreements that deliver value. You know how to look beyond upfront pricing to explore opportunities such as volume discounts, threshold-based incentives, and other approaches that improve purchasing outcomes.
The analytical approach. You can bring spend data together, assess opportunities across categories, and quantify potential savings to help prioritize where procurement can have the greatest impact. You’re comfortable tracking results and partnering with Finance to validate outcomes.
The relationship-building skills. You can work effectively with executive leaders, Finance, technology teams, and operational stakeholders to understand business needs, build alignment, and put procurement strategies into practice.
The builder’s mindset. You’re comfortable creating structure where processes may not yet exist. You can balance establishing practical governance with staying flexible and responsive to the needs of a growing organization.
