[01] INTERVIEW PROCESS

Standard software engineering loop at Citadel.

The stages below describe the typical SWE loop. Product, Design, and Data loops differ; pick a role to see how it changes, or jump straight to real questions reported for that role.

01

Online Assessment

60-90 min

Math, probability, and coding problems. Often timed with a focus on speed and accuracy.

  • Practice mental math and estimation
  • Review probability and combinatorics thoroughly
  • Speed matters; practice under time pressure
02

Phone Interview

45-60 min

Probability puzzles, brainteasers, and technical questions. Interviewers evaluate your thought process and mathematical intuition.

  • Think out loud; the process matters as much as the answer
  • Know common probability distributions and their properties
  • Practice brainteasers from 'Heard on the Street'
03

Onsite / Super Day

Full day (4-6 hours)

Multiple rounds of interviews covering probability, statistics, coding, and sometimes market-making simulations.

  • Bring scratch paper and be prepared for long calculations
  • Know your resume cold; they will ask about any technical claim
  • Stay calm; these are designed to be challenging

[02] APPLY LOGISTICS

Applications go through In-house.

Citadel runs hiring on In-house, so the application form and recruiter follow-ups flow through it. Use the same email everywhere and keep the profile fields consistent with your resume; recruiters see both side by side.

Sniper applies on Greenhouse, Workday and SmartRecruiters career sites, and Citadel hires through In-house, so the fastest route here is to get instant alerts when Citadel posts a new role and apply yourself while it is fresh.

[03] OVERVIEW

What candidates run into at Citadel.

Quantitative finance interviews are among the most challenging in any industry. They test mathematical ability, probability intuition, mental arithmetic, and coding speed. The process can span multiple days of intense interviews.
