We are seeking a Lead/Senior Business Analyst to support the end-to-end delivery of a Data Catalogue & Unified Ontology initiative within a Biomedical Research Digital & Data environment. This initiative is building a governed, semantic, and AI-ready data discovery capability, connecting authoritative registration and governance, a unified ontology and common data asset metadata model, metadata and data contracts, enterprise catalogue interoperability, and scientific discovery through agentic experiences.
The Business Analyst will work closely with the Product Manager, Delivery Lead, Unified Ontology Lead, Data Governance, scientific stakeholders, Engineering, UX/UI, platform teams, and Quality Engineering to translate business, scientific, semantic, and governance needs into clear, implementable requirements, bridging scientific/user needs and technical implementation across the full product lifecycle. Responsibilities Define, prioritize, and elicit requirements through interviews, workshops, and process analysis Translate needs into user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and backlog items, maintaining traceability to outcomes Analyze current and future workflows for registration, governance, cataloging, discovery, and reuse Define requirements for the data asset model, semantic models, and governance policies, including authoritative sources and machine-readable metadata Document integrations across registration, ontology, data contracts, governance, and discovery platforms, including mappings, APIs, and exception scenarios Define scientist and data-consumer journeys and support conversational and agentic discovery requirements in collaboration with UX/UI and discovery teams Structure work in Jira and Confluence, participate in Agile ceremonies, and partner with QA on test scenarios and UAT Track post-release feedback and support rollout, adoption, and change management Requirements 7–15 years of general IT experience, with 7+ years as a Business Analyst in software, data, or digital product delivery Background in Agile delivery (Scrum and/or Kanban) with hands-on proficiency in Jira and Confluence Proven capability to elicit and document BRDs, FRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria, and process flows Expertise in requirement gathering and stakeholder management across cross-functional teams, including facilitating workshops for mixed technical and domain audiences Strong analytical skills and excellent English communication English proficiency at an Upper-Intermediate level (B2) or higher Nice to have Familiarity with data catalogs, metadata platforms, knowledge graphs, or data-discovery solutions Understanding of metadata management, ontologies, lineage, data contracts, and data governance Experience with Collibra or comparable governance platforms, and with AI/RAG applications that depend on metadata Background in regulated pharmaceutical or biomedical research environments Knowledge of biomedical, omics, clinical, or real-world data, or of ontologies and knowledge management India Opportunity to work on technical challenges that may impact across geographies Vast opportunities for self-development: online university, knowledge sharing opportunities globally, learning opportunities through external certifications Opportunity to share your ideas on international platforms Sponsored Tech Talks & Hackathons Unlimited access to LinkedIn learning solutions Possibility to relocate to any EPAM office for short and long-term projects Focused individual development Benefit package: Health benefits Retirement benefits Paid time off Flexible benefits Forums to explore beyond work passion (CSR, photography, painting, sports, etc.)
