Petual Technology/Software

Community, Customers and Events

San Francisco, CA In person Full-time

ABOUT PETUAL Petual helps internal audit teams test their controls. Our agents take on the preparation, with a citation behind every conclusion, and the team's own reviewers check the work and sign off. Every sample is tested the same way, so quality shows control by control, and a reviewer's correction carries into every later run. The hours a team gets back go to looking ahead at new and higher risks, and to covering more of the audit program as the business grows.

We are an experienced team with deep backgrounds in audit, and enterprise software. We work together in person in San Francisco. We are growing rapidly, and are funded by Andreessen Horowitz and First Round. Marketing at Petual is new. Our Head of Marketing joined in September 2026 as the first marketing hire, and the people who join now will build the function alongside each other. Much of what this role owns is emerging and needs experienced hands to establish it.

You will get room to build the program the way you think it should be built. We're an early-stage company with more opportunities than people. There's more to own here than any job description can hold, so it suits someone who wants to invest in their own career and teaches themselves along the way. Your stomach can be as big as your eyes. THE ROLE Internal audit is a close profession. Audit leaders know one another from the same regional conferences and communities, and they trust and believe their peers long before they believe a vendor.

This role puts Petual inside those conversations. That means showing up where audit leaders already gather: Institute of Internal Auditors national and chapter events, the communities and newsletters they read, and the online spaces where they compare notes. It also means building places that bring them to us, like executive dinners and regional roadshows, and helping our early adopters share their stories back with the community.

You'll also own the customer program: a Customer Advisory Board, references, and customer stories our sellers can put in front of a prospect. We have customers ready to build this with, and our first calendar of industry events is already underway. WHAT YOU'LL OWN - Community and events strategy. Decide which programs we run and their goals, in an integrated way with the sales team. - Where we show up. Choose the conferences we sponsor or attend and what we do at each one.

Represent Petual in the online communities auditors use, and tell us whether we should host one of our own. - Where we bring people. Run executive dinners, roundtables and regional roadshows with sales, built around the accounts and deals that matter most. You decide who should be there and why. Our growth lead handles the invitations, lists and reporting, and you and the team who hosted write the follow-up for every conversation. - Customer events.

Create working sessions where customers show their peers how they work with Petual, and grow them into an event the profession wants to come to. - The Customer Advisory Board. Recruit the founding members, set the agenda and cadence, and take what we hear to Product with enough detail to act on. - Customer stories and references. Help our customers tell their stories, through case studies, references and speaking slots that sales can use, and keep a bench of customers ready to talk to prospects, analysts and the press. - Running events.

Work through agencies and partners on the booth, logistics, meeting plans and talk tracks, so your own time goes to strategy and the people you're meeting. Our growth lead works alongside you as a peer and runs the lists, sends and reporting behind every event. As the program proves itself, you'll make the case for a team and hire it. HOW WE'LL MEASURE IT We'll judge the program by whether it helps move deals and makes customers better at their work, and we'll expect you to know the numbers behind it.

YOU'LL DO WELL HERE IF - You've spent eight or more years in field, event, customer or community marketing at B2B companies selling to enterprise buyers, with some of it leading the function. - You've built a customer advisory board, community or event series from nothing, and it was still running a year later. - You've run executive dinners and multi-city field programs end to end alongside a sales team, and can show the pipeline they produced. - You've persuaded customers in a regulated or conservative industry to go on the record. - You're comfortable in a room of executives and can talk with them about their work. - You write well, since invitations, briefs, follow-ups and post-event reports are most of what people see of the program. - You believe AI lets a small team run a bigger program, and you've built agents that do real work, from researching who should be at an event to turning a session into something sales can use. - You manage agencies and vendors well and keep hold of the numbers yourself. - You're comfortable traveling regularly to conferences. - Experience with internal audit, risk, compliance or finance buyers is a real plus, and so is an existing network in the profession.

THIS PROBABLY ISN'T THE ROLE FOR YOU IF - You judge an event by its badge scans. - You want a large budget and a team on day one. Both grow with results. - You'd rather run logistics than decide where we go and prove it paid off. - You'd rather work remotely.
