ABOUT PETUAL Petual helps internal audit teams test their controls. Our agents take on the preparation, with a citation behind every conclusion, and the team's own reviewers check the work and sign off. Every sample is tested the same way, so quality shows control by control, and a reviewer's correction carries into every later run. The hours a team gets back go to looking ahead at new and higher risks, and to covering more of the audit program as the business grows.
We are an experienced team with deep backgrounds in audit, and enterprise software. We work together in person in San Francisco. We are growing rapidly, and are funded by Andreessen Horowitz and First Round. Marketing at Petual is new. Our Head of Marketing joined in September 2026 as the first marketing hire, and the people who join now will build the function alongside each other. Much of what this role owns is emerging and needs experienced hands to establish it.
You will get room to build growth marketing the way you think it should be built. We're an early-stage company with more opportunities than people. There's more to own here than any job description can hold, so it suits someone who wants to invest in their own career and teaches themselves along the way. Your stomach can be as big as your eyes. THE ROLE You'll own Petual's paid and account-based marketing (ABM), the channels, offers and experiments that reach the companies we most want to work with.
You test ideas small across our channels and scale what works. Each account needs its own message and offer, from teams still unsure an agent can test a control to teams ready to sign. You'll also build the AI-native system that makes each test cheap to launch and easy to read, starting from the agents and automations already wired into our CRM. Our buyers lead internal audit teams at public companies. They're skeptical by training, since finding the flaw in a claim is their job, and a decision involves several people and takes months.
The work is finding what actually moves those teams and putting budget behind it. WHAT YOU'LL OWN - Channels and offers by account. Work out which channels reach the accounts we're going after and which offer moves each one forward, from a point of view for teams that haven't started with AI to an offer for teams already comparing vendors. - Paid acquisition. Own paid on LinkedIn and wherever else our buyers can be reached, aimed at the accounts we most want to win, inside a budget we agree together. - Experiment, then scale.
Test small across several channels at once and judge each test by the opportunities it creates. Scale what works and stop what doesn't, with a note on why. - Account-based plays. Run one-to-one and one-to-few plays with sales, changing the channel, message and offer for each account. Sales owns the conversations. - The copy. Write the ads, emails, sequences and landing pages yourself, using only claims we can stand behind.
Our buyers find flaws for a living, so nothing ships that reads as if a machine wrote it. - The machine behind it. Build and run the system your experiments depend on, from the signals that show where a buyer sits to the handoff from every form, list and ad into our CRM. The goal is that a new test takes days to launch. - Events. Your system runs the invitations, lists and follow-up behind our events, and you work alongside our community and events lead as a peer. - Test readouts.
For every test, write down what you expected, what happened and what you'd change, so we know where to move budget next. YOU'LL DO WELL HERE IF - You've spent four to eight years in B2B growth or account-based marketing, selling to enterprise buyers with long cycles and buying committees. - You've run paid against named accounts, on LinkedIn above all, with a budget you answered for, and you can show how you knew what it did. - You've taken a test across three or more channels, read it, and scaled the winner into something that ran every week. - You can show copy and offers you wrote for buyers at different stages and explain why each one differs. - You start from the problem and go looking for the tool that solves it.
You've built your own pipeline machinery with AI and automation, and you can show a system you built yourself, the problem it solved, and what it replaced. - You think in systems. You've replaced a manual play with something that runs without you, and you know when to build, when to buy, and when a simpler process is enough. - You've built the system behind an events or field program. - You can tell a real change in results from a tracking problem, and you've caught bad data before it drove a decision.
THIS PROBABLY ISN'T THE ROLE FOR YOU IF - Most of your experience is nurture streams, webinars, inbound SDR handoffs and list building. - Most of your paid experience is broad lead generation judged on cost per lead. - You lead with the tools you know and look for work to put them on. - You'd rather hand the build to an ops team. - Your building has mostly served other people's campaigns, and you haven't owned a channel's results yourself. - You want a defined remit and a team on day one.
This seat builds the remit first, and headcount follows results. - You'd rather work remotely.
