Petual Technology/Software

Brand Design

San Francisco, CA In person Full-time

ABOUT PETUAL Petual helps internal audit teams test their controls. Our agents take on the preparation, with a citation behind every conclusion, and the audit team’s reviewers check the work and sign off. Every sample is tested the same way, so quality shows control by control, and a reviewer's correction carries into every later run. The hours a team gets back go to looking ahead at new and higher risks, and to covering more of the audit program as the business grows.

We are an experienced team with deep backgrounds in audit, and enterprise software. We work together in person in San Francisco. We are growing rapidly, and are funded by Andreessen Horowitz and First Round. Marketing at Petual is new. Our Head of Marketing joined in September 2026 as the first marketing hire, and the people who join now will build the function alongside each other. Much of what this role owns is emerging and needs experienced hands to establish it.

You will get room to build the brand the way you think it should be built. We're an early-stage company with more opportunities than people. There's more to own here than any job description can hold, so it suits someone who wants to invest in their own career and teaches themselves along the way. Your stomach can be as big as your eyes. THE ROLE Petual is working to develop its brand identity. The type system, the illustration and motion language, how a product screen sits on a page, how we look on a conference floor: all of it still has to be built and refined, and you are the person who designs it.

You'll be the first designer on the marketing team and the steward of Petual's visual identity from its first real version onward. Our buyers are auditors. They decide whether to take a vendor seriously long before they speak to one, and much of that judgment rests on how carefully the company presents itself. When a company asks audit teams to rely on AI for work that is inherently built on trust, looking considered and precise is part of what it sells.

Most of the craft here is making complex, technical work look calm and easy to read. WHAT YOU'LL OWN - The identity system. Define logo usage, type, color, grid, iconography, illustration, photography direction and motion, documented in guidelines and a shared library that others can build from without asking you. - Launches and campaigns. Lead creative for product launches, announcements and paid campaigns, from the first concept to the final asset, directing the motion and video work through AI agents or the specialists you brief. - The website.

Design the rebuild and every page after it, working alongside our growth lead. - Events. Design booths, tabletop displays, print and signage, and the kits that make a small team look established on a conference floor. - Sales material. Create the decks, one-pagers, customer stories and product visuals that sales puts in front of audit leaders every day. - Video. Art-direct product demos and brand films and set their visual concepts. - Production that scales.

Build templates and AI-assisted workflows so the brand grows past the hours you personally have. - The quality bar. Hold the standard for anything visual that leaves the building, including work other people make. You'll work closely with our product designer, who owns the product UI, so the product and the brand read as one company. YOU'LL DO WELL HERE IF - You've spent five or more years in brand or communication design, ideally in-house at a technology company, including at least one identity you shaped end to end. - Your range covers identity, layout and typography.

For illustration, motion and video you are the director, whether the work comes from AI agents you run yourself or from a specialist you brief. - You've made technical or B2B products look clear and considered, and you enjoy that problem. - You build systems that let other people move fast, and you're comfortable saying no when something is off-brand. - You believe AI makes creative work bigger, and you can show work where it let you explore more directions and make more of the brand at a higher standard. - You can present and defend your work to a CEO and to a sales team.

THIS PROBABLY ISN'T THE ROLE FOR YOU IF - You want to design product UI. Our product design team owns that, and this seat is focused on our brand. - You'd rather work on a slice of an established brand under a creative director. Here you set the direction and execute it. - You need a detailed brief before you start. You'll often write the brief yourself. - You'd rather work remotely.
