Role Overview We’re hiring a Head of Performance Video to lead Rho’s video editing department. You’ll manage and develop our editors, own the quality and delivery of their work, and personally edit performance video.
Reporting to the VP of Creative and Growth and working directly with the founder, you’ll turn creative briefs and direction into effective ads. You’ll lead day-to-day editing, give clear feedback, solve problems in the work, and keep projects moving from raw footage to final delivery. You’ll stay hands-on, owning edits yourself while helping the team improve. You’ll also contribute to creative strategy discussions and use performance results to sharpen editorial decisions, ensuring the intended audience, message, and testing objective carry through into every cut.
What You'll Own Lead and develop the video team Manage, coach, and grow a team of video editors, including hiring, onboarding, regular one-to-ones, and performance development. Set clear expectations for quality, ownership, and delivery. Give specific, constructive feedback that helps editors become stronger creative thinkers. Plan assignments around team capacity and individual strengths, with clear priorities and coverage when people are unavailable.
Build a collaborative environment where people can contribute ideas, ask questions early, and raise problems before they affect delivery. Edit hands-on and lead editorial quality Personally edit priority ads from raw footage through final delivery, including creator, expert, founder, podcast, and product content. Maintain your own editing workload alongside team leadership. Find the strongest moments in the footage and build clear, persuasive stories around them.
Make thoughtful decisions about hooks, structure, pacing, product explanation, proof, and calls to action. Preserve each creator’s voice, personality, and natural delivery. Know when a simple phone video needs restraint and when a produced piece benefits from more craft. Use B-roll, graphics, captions, sound, and AI tools deliberately. Every element should help the viewer understand or believe the message. Review the team’s edits before stakeholder review, give precise notes, and demonstrate solutions directly in the timeline.
Partner with Design on typography, composition, and motion standards. Own the editing workflow and delivery Own the editing pipeline from brief and footage review through revisions, quality checks, and delivery. Confirm that each editor understands the direction and deliverables before work begins. Flag missing footage or unclear direction early, and work with Creative Strategy, Production, and Partnerships to resolve gaps.
Work with Creative Operations to keep priorities, owners, deadlines, review status, and launch handoffs clear. Consolidate feedback and proactively resolve blockers. Build repeatable standards for project files, naming, version control, and searchable footage libraries so editors can find and reuse strong material. Coordinate with science, compliance, and partner teams on approved claims, disclosures, and usage permissions.
Ensure final assets meet the relevant channel specifications. Contribute to strategy and apply performance learnings Work with the VP of Creative and Growth and creative strategists to understand each brief’s audience, angle, message, and test objective. Ensure those choices are carried through in the edit. Contribute ideas in creative reviews, including stronger openings, alternative story structures, useful footage, and opportunities for new cuts.
Bring an editor’s perspective to briefing and shoot planning. Review ad performance with Creative Strategy and Paid Media. Understand hook rate, hold rate, CTR, conversion rate, CPA/CAC, and ROAS, and use the results to inform editing decisions. Turn agreed learnings into purposeful iterations, such as a clearer product explanation, stronger proof, a different opening, or a tighter story. Help editors understand what each version is testing.
Share patterns from winning and underperforming edits with the team. Evaluate results in context, including spend and campaign objective, and connect attention metrics with conversion outcomes.
