The Chief Data & Artificial Intelligence Officer (CDAIO) and Vice President is an executive responsible for defining and executing the enterprise data and AI strategy to advance clinical care, research innovation, and operational excellence within our National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center.

This role serves as a strategic integrator across clinical, research, and administrative domains, ensuring that data ecosystem technologies, advanced analytics, and artificial intelligence are deployed ethically, securely, and at scale to drive measurable improvements in patient outcomes, safety, quality, access, experience, administrative efficiencies and effectiveness, and scientific discovery.

The CDAIO operates as an advisor to executives and a transformation leader, bridging clinicians, scientists, and operational leaders while overseeing enterprise capabilities spanning:

  • Data ecosystem across all data platforms
  • Data governance and associated interoperability
  • AI/ML, LLMs, agentic and gen AI, and advanced analytics
  • Cybersecurity and digital trust assurance
  • Patient engagement, electronic health record system and associated applications and modalities, oncology-specific data, and AI-enabled care delivery and research.

The role is accountable for establishing a digitally data-enabled, risk-assured AI-powered cancer center that accelerates translational research, personalizes oncology care, and enhances system-wide efficiency and effectiveness. The CDAIO is accountable for translating these capabilities into measurable, quantifiable value—improving quality, safety, access, experience, cost efficiency, and growth—and for demonstrating a clear return on investment across the enterprise.
