About the role and team
Leading at Uber means setting direction in motion, not waiting for perfect conditions. As the Head of Territory Operations, you will lead a high-performing team of 10 operations managers to own the three-sided marketplace of eaters, couriers, and merchants across a major territory. This is a high-stakes leadership role where you will carry the weight of decisions that matter—from navigating complex local regulations to managing the growth and budget of a massive territory.
You’ll need to lead with clarity, build with heart, and thrive in an environment that is fast-moving, complex, and often ambiguous. This isn't just about managing a business; it's about making hard calls under pressure, balancing competing priorities, and leading through influence to shape the future of instant delivery. If you lead with heart and are energized by the challenge of solving what’s hard, this is where you’ll make your mark.
What you’ll do
- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team of operators, coaching them to solve messy, high-impact problems across the eater, merchant, and courier marketplaces.
- Set the strategic vision for your territory, translating global and national priorities into actionable local initiatives that drive growth and operational excellence.
- Navigate the complexity of local regulations and business needs, providing critical input that shapes how our products and processes evolve in-market.
- Partner cross-functionally with commercial and strategic leadership to unblock sales barriers, optimize market prioritization, and manage account investment.
- Own territory-level performance against OKRs, managing multi-city or state-wide campaigns and taking accountability for market-level results.
- Collaborate with global and regional stakeholders to voice business opportunities and ensure territory-specific needs are reflected in larger-scale projects.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years of professional work experience in operations, consulting, strategy, analytics, tech, or investment banking.
- Minimum 3 years of experience managing and leading operational teams.
- Proven track record of overseeing performance and driving the execution of strategic initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree required (Technical degree in economics, engineering, finance, or math is a plus).
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate degree (MBA or MS).
- Unparalleled business judgment with the ability to use SQL and data to establish high-value priorities and develop a strategy to pursue them.
- High energy and motivational leadership with experience communicating effectively across all company functions in a rapid-growth environment.
- Exceptional organization and time management skills, with a proven ability to deliver against hard deadlines in ambiguous situations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to weave insights into a compelling story that inspires action.
- Experience building and leading diverse teams in a matrixed organization.
