Glassdoor Review 2026: 30 Companies Compared to Blind

Glassdoor vs Blind across 30 tech companies: the 2024 employer-response policy skews ratings positive, and salary data trails Levels.fyi. How to use it now.

ByJules Lemée|Founder of Scoutify

Glassdoor is still the biggest source of company reviews, salary reports and interview questions, and it is free for job seekers, but in 2026 it is a research tool rather than a fast way to find jobs. When we compared Glassdoor with Blind across 30 tech companies, Glassdoor's ratings skewed positive after its 2024 employer-response policy, and its salary data was less accurate than Levels.fyi. This review covers what Glassdoor does well, where it falls short, and how to use it in a modern job search.

What Glassdoor Is

Glassdoor launched in 2008 so that employees could review their employers anonymously, share salaries and post interview experiences. Recruit Holdings, which also owns Indeed, bought Glassdoor in 2018 for $1.2 billion, and the two share some infrastructure while running as separate products. Over the years, Glassdoor added job listings, so you can research a company's culture and pay while you browse its openings, although the listings remain secondary to the review database.

Key Features

Company reviews

Employees rate companies on overall satisfaction, culture, work-life balance, pay, career opportunities and senior management, and each review includes pros, cons and advice to management. Anonymity encourages candid feedback, but it also lets disgruntled former employees and management-encouraged fans skew the picture, so the most reliable signal is a theme that repeats across many reviews.

How Glassdoor compared with Blind

In our comparison of 30 tech companies, Glassdoor's ratings ran more positive than what employees said on Blind. A 2024 policy change that lets employers respond to and flag reviews has raised concerns about censorship, and I think it is part of the reason. For tech companies, I would read Blind alongside Glassdoor before trusting either one.

Salary data

Glassdoor aggregates self-reported salaries by company, role, location and experience. The data is reliable for common roles at large companies and thin for niche roles at small ones, and for tech compensation we found Levels.fyi more accurate.

Interview questions

Candidates share the questions they were asked, how the process was structured, how hard it felt and whether they got an offer. This is one of Glassdoor's most useful features, because knowing that a company asks system design in round two lets you prepare for it.

Job search and alerts

Glassdoor lists jobs that employers post directly and jobs it shares with Indeed's pipeline, and you can save searches and receive email alerts for them.

Strengths

  • Its company research is deep. No other platform combines reviews, salaries and interview experiences at this scale.
  • Interview preparation is concrete. Reading recent candidates' experiences gives you a real advantage over applicants who go in blind.
  • The core features are free. Glassdoor used to require a contribution to unlock content, and it has relaxed that rule.
  • It helps you avoid bad employers. Repeated complaints in reviews can warn you off a company before you invest in its process.

Weaknesses

  • Alerts are slow. Glassdoor's job alerts arrive 24 to 72 hours after the original career page posting, because the platform is built for research rather than speed.
  • The job database is smaller. Glassdoor has fewer listings than Indeed or LinkedIn, with gaps among smaller employers.
  • Reviews can be managed. Some companies encourage positive reviews or flag negative ones, which skews the data.
  • It overlaps with Indeed. The shared owner and infrastructure mean many of the same listings, so using both for job search can feel redundant.

Alert Speed: Research First, Speed Second

At hour 0, the company posts the job on its career page. The listing usually appears on Glassdoor 12 to 36 hours later, through a direct post or Indeed's shared pipeline, and the email alert arrives 24 to 72 hours after the original posting. By then, a competitive role has often been open for a day or more, so Glassdoor helps you decide whether and how to apply rather than helping you apply first.

Pricing

Glassdoor is free for job seekers, including reviews, salary data, interview questions, job search and alerts, and we found no paid candidate plan on September 30, 2026. Some content may still ask you to sign in or contribute before you see everything.

The Best Way to Use Glassdoor

I would use Glassdoor as a research companion. Decide which companies and roles you want, check their reviews, salaries and interview questions on Glassdoor and Blind, and then let a faster tool handle the timing. Scoutify watches 70,000+ company career pages, and its Sniper plan applies to new matching jobs within minutes on Workday, Greenhouse and SmartRecruiters career sites, so your application is in before the job reaches a Glassdoor alert, and you can do the research while Sniper has already applied.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Glassdoor still reliable in 2026?

Glassdoor still has the largest volume of reviews, but its reliability has declined since a 2024 policy let employers respond to and flag reviews. For tech companies, Blind offers more candid views, and Levels.fyi has more accurate salary data.

Is Glassdoor free?

Glassdoor is free for job seekers. It has relaxed its old rule that required you to contribute a review or salary before seeing content, although some pages may still ask you to sign in or contribute.

What are the best Glassdoor alternatives?

For company reviews, Blind gives verified, anonymous employee views, and for tech salaries, Levels.fyi is more accurate. For finding and applying to new jobs, Scoutify watches 70,000+ career pages and its Sniper plan applies for you minutes after a matching job posts.

Verdict

Glassdoor is valuable for company research, salary benchmarking and interview preparation, and nothing else offers the same depth of employee-submitted data. As a job alert tool, it is mediocre, because its alerts are slow, its listings are fewer and its ratings now skew positive.

We rate Glassdoor 3 out of 5 for job alerts, because it is excellent for research and slow for discovery. For more research options, see our list of the best Glassdoor alternatives.
