Get to Know the Opportunity

This position is part of Voya Investment Management (Voya IM) and our Summer Student Program, offering students the opportunity to gain firsthand experience in the investment management industry while working alongside professionals across the Voya IM organization.

As a Summer Student supporting the Risk Reporting and Analytics team, you will assist with projects and day-to-day activities while gaining exposure to risk management practices within Voya IM. You will have opportunities to learn from Risk team members, collaborate with business partners across the organization, and participate in risk meetings to build your understanding of investment risk management and industry best practices.

This role is based near our Atlanta office, with expected onsite presence on average up to 3 days per week to support team and business priorities.

The Contributions You’ll Make

• Meet regularly or biweekly with members of the Risk team to learn about the Risk function and how it partners with the business, including Market Risk, Credit Risk, Equity Risk, Multi-Asset Risk, and Operational Risk.
• Support data visualization and reporting development using tools such as SQL, Power BI, and WebFOCUS.
• Assist with process improvement initiatives involving SQL, technology partners, and data gathering.
• Support the automation and enhancement of reporting using SQL and reporting tools such as Power BI, WebFOCUS, and SSRS.
• Collect, process, and analyze data to support Risk Managers and their ongoing risk management activities.
• Assist with updates and edits to investment risk policies.
• Collaborate with Risk team members and business partners across Voya IM while gaining practical exposure to risk management processes and best practices.

Minimum Knowledge & Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in finance or related field.
• Functional knowledge of or interest in investments and financial markets.
• Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to collaborate effectively with multiple members of the Risk team.
• Good technical foundation with databases and programming languages.

Preferred Knowledge & Experience

• Exposure to SQL, data analysis, databases, or programming languages.
• Familiarity with data visualization or reporting tools such as Power BI, WebFOCUS, or SSRS.
• Interest in investment management, financial markets, risk management, and data analytics.

Compensation Pay Disclosure

Voya is committed to pay that’s fair and equitable, which means comparable pay for comparable roles and responsibilities.

The below annual base salary range reflects the expected hiring range(s) for this position in the location(s) listed. In addition to base salary, Voya offers incentive opportunities (i.e., annual cash incentives, sales incentives, and/or long-term incentives) based on the role to reward the achievement of annual performance objectives. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Voya Financial is willing to pay at the time of this posting.

Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted salary range based upon the candidate’s geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
