Otta Review 2026: Best UX, Daily Batches 18 Hours Late
Otta is now Welcome to the Jungle, and it is still free. Its curation is best in class for tech, and I averaged 8 relevant matches a day, but the daily batches ran 18 hours late.
Otta no longer exists as a separate product: Welcome to the Jungle acquired it in January 2024, and otta.com now leads to Welcome to the Jungle, where the same curated, salary-forward matching for tech jobs carries on and is still free for candidates. This Otta review covers what happened to Otta, what the product is like in 2026, and its one real weakness, which is speed. Otta has the best user experience in its category, but its daily batches meant the top postings were 18 hours old by the time I saw them.
I am the founder of Scoutify, which competes with part of what Otta does, so you should read my opinion with that in mind. Scoutify is AI job search that applies for you first: it watches 70,000+ company career pages, and our Sniper auto-apply plan applies to new jobs that fit you minutes after they post. Otta helps you decide where you want to work, and that is a different and useful job.

What Happened to Otta
Otta was a London-founded job matching platform for tech and startup roles, mainly in the UK and US. The French company Welcome to the Jungle acquired it in January 2024, which was Welcome to the Jungle's first big international acquisition and its way into the UK and US markets. Later in 2024, the Otta site and app began moving to the Welcome to the Jungle name, and for a while the product was labeled "Welcome to the Jungle (formerly Otta)".
It was not a shutdown. The same kind of curated matches, company profiles and salary ranges continue under the new name, and the service is still free for job seekers. If you had an Otta account, you now log in through Welcome to the Jungle.
Otta built its following by rejecting the cluttered look of traditional job boards in favor of a clean, opinionated feed. It works directly with employers, so the companies on the platform have opted in, which creates a higher-trust environment than open boards where anyone can post. The tradeoff is a smaller selection of companies and roles, but the ones you see tend to be legitimate, well described and at reputable organizations.
How Otta Works Now
- You build a profile with your experience and preferences, and the platform shows you a limited set of roles it thinks fit, based on your level, preferred role types, company size and industry interests. Otta made its name by delivering those matches as a daily batch.
- Company pages include funding, team size, growth, tech stack, culture notes and employee reviews, which goes well beyond what most job boards provide.
- Many listings show salary ranges upfront, and the platform actively pushes for pay transparency.
- The feed has no banner ads and no recruiter spam, so it feels more like a well-designed app than a job board.
- Companies choose to be on the platform, so listings lean toward high-growth startups and scale-ups from Series A through post-IPO, such as Monzo, Deliveroo and Revolut.
- Some employers accept applications directly through the platform, although most roles still send you to the employer's own form.
What I Found: Great Curation, 18 Hours Late
Otta's curation is best in class for tech roles. I averaged 8 relevant matches a day, which is a short list you can actually read, and it is a relief compared with scrolling hundreds of irrelevant listings on a general board.
The catch was timing. Because the matches arrived as a daily batch, the top postings were 18 hours old by the time I saw them. For a calm, exploratory search that does not matter much. For a competitive role, 18 hours can be long enough for a popular posting to collect hundreds of applicants, and recruiters often read applications in the order they arrive and stop once they have enough people to interview.
Pricing
Otta is free for job seekers. The platform makes money from employers, who pay to list roles and reach candidate profiles, so you get the full matching experience without a subscription and without premium candidate tiers. The model works the way LinkedIn earns money from recruiter licenses and job posting fees.
What We Like
- It favors signal over volume, and a short list of roles that match your background is a relief if you are tired of searching.
- The average company is better than on open boards, because employers opt in and pay to be there, so you are unlikely to run into fake listings, staffing-agency spam or ghost jobs.
- Seeing salary ranges and company context before you apply saves a lot of time.
- The design respects your time, because job descriptions are well formatted and company information is easy to scan.
- Its coverage of London startups and European tech companies is better than most US-first tools offer.
- It costs nothing, so you can run it next to other tools without stacking subscriptions.
Where It Falls Short
- Coverage is limited to companies that partner with the platform, so thousands of employers, including many well-known tech companies, are absent. If your target employer is not one of them, its jobs are not there.
- Matches arrive as a curated batch rather than an alert minutes after posting. If a competitive role opens at 9 AM, you might not see it until the next morning.
- You cannot get an instant alert when one specific company posts a new role, so you are always at least hours behind the original posting.
- The platform leans heavily toward venture-funded startups and mid-size tech companies, and it is thin for enterprise, government, consulting and non-tech roles.
- Coverage is strongest in the UK and a few US cities, and match quality drops off elsewhere.
- The platform decides what you see, so you cannot search the full database or set fine-grained keyword alerts, which feels limiting when the algorithm misreads your preferences.
- You still fill in most applications yourself.
How Scoutify Compares
Coverage is the first difference. Scoutify watches 70,000+ company career pages, from startups to large enterprises, while Otta's employer base is a curated subset that is likely a few thousand companies. If broad coverage matters to you, that gap is large.
Speed is the second. Scoutify alerts you within minutes of a job appearing on a company's career page, with native push notifications on iOS, Android, macOS and Windows, while Otta relies on its feed and email. Scoutify also lets you pick specific companies and hear about the relevant roles they post, whereas Otta shows you what its algorithm selects.
Price is where Otta wins. Otta is free for candidates. Browsing Scoutify is free, alerts cost $5 a week, Auto Apply costs $15 a week for up to 200 applications, and Sniper costs $25 a week for up to 500.
If you found a job on Otta and it was posted on a career site Sniper supports, Sniper would already have applied. That is the practical difference between a curated feed and a tool that submits. When a new job on a Workday, Greenhouse or SmartRecruiters career site fits your roles, locations and visa needs, Sniper applies with your real resume minutes after it posts, around the clock, and most employers answer with their own confirmation email, which lands in Scoutify Mail with any replies. Sniper never logs in to your LinkedIn account, it sends one application per posting, and support for Ashby and Lever is rolling out. Your first 25 applications are free. If you only want to hear about new jobs and apply yourself, Scoutify's real-time job alerts are the lighter option.
Sniper will not replace Otta's company research and salary context, and the two tools work well together. Otta can show you companies you had not considered, and Scoutify makes sure you apply to new roles at those companies as soon as they appear.

Otta Alternatives
Otta's batches and startup focus work well for passive browsing, but the delay, the limited company list and the narrow geography leave gaps. These alternatives fill them, and our Scoutify vs Otta comparison goes deeper on the first one.
Scoutify Sniper: Best for Speed and Applying First
Scoutify fixes Otta's biggest weakness, which is speed. It watches 70,000+ company career pages and sends push notifications within 5 to 15 minutes of a new posting, from seed-stage startups to FAANG and enterprise employers, and Sniper applies for you at $25 a week. If you are comparing tools that submit applications, see the best auto-apply tools in 2026.
Wellfound: Best for Startup Jobs With Equity Details
Wellfound is the closest alternative to Otta in audience, because both focus on startup and venture-backed companies, but Wellfound is a browsable marketplace rather than a curated feed. Listings include salary ranges and equity details, which Otta provides inconsistently, and you can message founders and hiring managers directly. It is free for job seekers. Our list of Wellfound alternatives covers the startup-job tools around it.
HiringCafe: Best for Broader Company Coverage
If Otta's startup focus is too narrow, HiringCafe opens up the wider market. It pulls listings from company career pages across all company sizes, shows salary data where it is available, links each result to the employer's own application page, and costs nothing. See our HiringCafe review.
LinkedIn Jobs: Best for Networking and Recruiter Visibility
LinkedIn serves a different purpose than Otta. Otta curates roles you should apply to, while LinkedIn builds a professional presence that brings recruiters and referrals to you, and its job catalog covers far more industries and company sizes. LinkedIn is free, with optional Premium from $29.99 a month.

Who Should Use Otta?
Otta is a strong fit for tech professionals who are exploring new opportunities without a deadline. If you are not in a rush, prefer quality over quantity and want a calm digest of relevant roles at reputable startups and scale-ups, it delivers that well, especially for the London and European tech scenes.
It is less suited to active job seekers who need to know about new postings right away, to anyone targeting companies outside its employer list, and to candidates in non-tech industries. For companies that Otta covers well, you can also check Scoutify's interview prep pages, such as Stripe interview questions, Databricks interview prep and Figma's hiring process.
The Bottom Line
Otta lives on as Welcome to the Jungle, and it is still a good free way to discover tech and startup employers. Its curated matches, clean interface, company profiles and salary transparency make it one of the nicest job platforms to use.
It is not built for speed or coverage. It shows you a slice of the market on a daily schedule, so on competitive roles you may apply after the first wave of candidates has already been reviewed. Use Otta to decide where you want to work, and let Sniper apply to new matching jobs minutes after they post.
